William "Bill" Moore Rindfleisch
11 août 1949 - 13 septembre 2024
11 août 1949 - 13 septembre 2024
Bill passed away Friday, September 13th in a fire at his home in Spring Valley, California. He was 75. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel M. Rindfleisch (Strebe), his father, William F. Rindfleisch, his half-brother, Kenneth L. Strebe and his half-sister, Nancy B. Blake Alvin (Rindfleisch). He is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as dear friends and hundreds of former students.
Bill was born August 11, 1949 and grew up outside of Spencer, Wisconsin. He was the only child of William and Ethel Rindfleisch and had a half-sister, Nancy, who was six years his senior. He attended Spencer schools, where he showed an interest in language, writing and was on the support staff for many sports. After graduating from Spencer High School in 1967 as Valedictorian, he studied English at the University of Wisconsin - Madison.
After college, Bill worked in several hospitals as an aid, orderly and supervisor. He lived and worked in Boston, Denver, Seattle and San Francisco. It was there that he began tutoring a blind Saudi man and developed an interest in the Middle East. He also became fluent in Spanish and taught English briefly in Mexico.
After receiving his master's degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language from San Francisco State, he worked for over 30 years teaching English in the Middle East including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and United Arab Emirates. Students also benefited from several textbooks he wrote. In 2016, he retired and moved back to California.
Bill suffered from deformation of his feet, which resulted in peripheral neuropathy, chronic pain and limited mobility. Yet, he remained mentally competent and enjoyed reading, listening to many genres of music, writing and watching sports.
In addition to living in the Middle East, Bill traveled to Kenya, Mexico and many Middle Eastern countries. He loved the desert, from Death Valley, CA to the Middle East.
Bill will be remembered for his gentle nature, clever mind, sharp wit, extraordinary sense of humor and his love of animals and nature. He blessed many people the world over with his gift of friendship and will surely be missed.
