Remembering Survivors No Longer With Us

To Indi, I still remember you most days and I'm sorry you didn't get a chance to get out and study law like you wanted to. I loved the way you carried an old torn silk scarf around with you like a comfort blanket and you never stopped sucking your thumb. Wish we could jump another train together. I still tell stories about you all the time. You made a dark place so much brighter. Everyone should have known you! You never got to grow up but you were so smart, I often wonder where you'd be now if you had made it out. You changed my life and even though your funeral was like a strangers funeral, I remember you as YOU and have celebrated your life and mourned your loss in a way YOU would have wanted. You were always so blunt it made me laugh but you were kind and forgiving. I'm sorry I left you, I should have taken you with me.
