James Oscar Lindbo, of Elk Mound, passed away peacefully early evening on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. He passed comfortably while on hospice while residing at Neighbors of Dunn County.

Throughout his entire life, he dedicated countless hours to learning and understanding religion and studying Biblical texts.
James is preceded in death by his wife Jone, son Jon, sister Ruth and his parents Oscar and Helga. He is survived by daughter, Jenesis Lindbo, daughter-in-law Amanda (Berger) Lindbo, grandson Owen, his siblings David Lindbo, Ann (Ted) Severson, and nieces and nephews, Serine (Tom) Haugness, Elaine Pregent, Christina (Dwight) Tjerstad, Michael (Sam) Severson, Grady (Nina) Severson, and John Severson, and their extended family as well.
A service will held in the end of September or October, with details to follow.

I’ve recently ordered a Bhagavad Gita As It Is from an online book seller. This copy had been signatured inside by James O. Lindbo. This copy dates to 1972 and he may have been in care of this from that time till now. Reading the messages left by others and sharing kind words in God consciousness, is very encouraging. That he kept this sacred text in his care many a year and invokes thoughts of God and the Bible shows he lives a good life. Wherever he is now may he be continuing to love and praise God.

Jim was a true friend and believer in God. We went to UW Eau Claire and became best friends. We would play foosball in Davies Center and went golfing. He was. A great friend and will be missed.

I met Jim at college. We became fast friends and spent many hours of many days together. We even would close out the library or the Davies Center and continue studying at the Water Street laundry mat. He always made me think and was appreciative of the time we spent together. I learned to play goalie while he played the front men in foosball. He had a habit of NOT picking up his men fast enough for me to shoot a winner from the rear. In a playful manner, I would spin around counter clockwise and give him a tap from the bottom of my shoe on his behind as a reminder that I can score too! We would play chess in the Davies Center for hours and other students would gather to watch us play. Once I was nearing defeat so I grabbed his rook calling out a fictitious ruling in an obscure middle eastern accent. Shock-who-nod! I called out as I took his rook off the board! I thought he was going to have a heart attack! Jim always had my best interest at heart. I was the recipient of many religious studying materials and bibles. Although he was many levels above my understanding of the text he never put himself over me. It was a journey of the two of us. In his final days, I visited him in Eau Claire, Bloomer, and Menomonie. We spoke of old times, fun times. The last time I saw him, I brought my son Joey with me. Jim was unusually lucid that day and enjoyed telling Joey stories of our younger days. I was very surprised to learn soon after that Jim had passed. It’s taken me this long to write something in his memory as I just couldn’t accept the fact that he has gone. But I know he finally is having all his questions answered! I guess the Lord pulled his own shock-who-nod!

As you note, Jenesis, Jim sought to understand scripture. I am certain that he believed 1 John 1:4 that "In [God] was life, and that life was the light of all mankind." Further, I believe that he sought to live the admonishment in 1 Corinthians 16:14 "Let all that you do be done in love." Jim lives on, not only in your memory, but in the love and light you give to others in your own future. My condolences to you and your family.
