"Keep a-go!"

Dr. Judith Noble Halle, medical educator and researcher, wife, mother, and horse breeder, went to be with God on March 8, 2026 due to a sudden, severe cardiac condition. Dr. Halle lived in Buckhannon and Rock Cave, WV, beginning in 2000 when she moved from the Los Angeles, CA area, where she grew up.

Born in 1946 in Whittier, CA, Dr. Halle's career followed in the footsteps of her parents, LeRoy and Eunice Noble, who spent their lives crafting braces for disabled children and adults. Dr. Halle devoted her professional life to caring for mothers and infants in labor and delivery, and to educating health care professionals. She attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and graduated with an RN degree in nursing in 1968, then pursued a career in labor and delivery nursing as a clinical nurse specialist, research and administration in various hospitals and organizations in Southern CA. She later returned to UCLA to obtain her doctorate in nursing, graduating in 1996. She was awarded the honor of "Graduate Woman of the Year" by the nursing school due to her research in the prevention of cerebral palsy in newborns. Her further research contributed to a change in the national standard of medical care for newborns at risk of cerebral palsy. She later taught nursing and physiology at UCLA and West Virginia Wesleyan College.

In her personal life, Judy married her high school physics professor, Andreas Halle, in 1970 in Whittier, CA. The couple raised their two daughters, Christie and Ann, in the same area. The family shared Judy's love of the Arabian horse and supported her childhood dream of having an Arabian horse breeding farm. That dream was first realized with a small farm in Southern CA then later expanded in "Eden Hollow," a verdant valley in Rock Cave, WV. The beautiful Arabian horses produced by her breeding efforts will continue to delight her family and others for many years to come. After Andy's passing in 2011, she remarried in 2014 to her nursing and education colleague Dr. Susan Rice. She spent her final years both at Eden Hollow enjoying her horses and in the couple's house in nearby Buckhannon.

Judy became a Christian at a YMCA camp in the San Bernardino Mountains in her early twenties and continued following Jesus until her death. She enjoyed many years of deep friendship with a spiritual "kinship" group started at Whittier Calvary Chapel Church. After moving to West Virignia, she worshiped at First United Methodist Church then New Community Church in Buckhannon (pastored by Justin Bowers). She spent her last years following in her father's Quaker Christian tradition as part of a local Religious Society of Friends Meeting.

Judy is preceeded in death by her parents LeRoy and Eunice Noble, her older sister Lee Vyscoskil, and her beloved husband Andy. She is survived by her dear wife Susan, her two daughters Christie Devlin and Ann Halle, and her two grandchildren, Brooke and Beau Bunton.

Continuing her life-long dedication to the education of medical professionals to the very end, Dr. Halle chose to donate her body to science through West Virginia University. A memorial service for her will be held at the Wesley Chapel at West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon, WV at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 21. A reception in her honor will be held in the same building immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, her family requests that donations be made to the LeRoy Noble Endowment at the Brooklyn Friends School in Brooklyn, NY, (718)-852-1029. https://brooklynfriends.org/donate/
