William D. Waite

William D. Waite passed away peacefully Saturday evening April 2, 2022, at the age of 87 surrounded by loved ones. Known to almost everyone as Bill, he was born June 25, 1934, the son of the late Harold and Myra (Kramer) Waite.

Bill honorably served his country as a US Marine but was honorably discharged before the end of his term of service to return home to help run the family business. He loved anything with a gas-powered engine, working his whole life as a mechanic. After working for several years at M & H Transport, Bill struck out on his own, along with his wife, Doris, to start his own business, Bill Waite’s Garage in Holland, OH.

In his spare time, Bill enjoyed racing midget and sprint cars traveling around the great state of Ohio to popular dirt and asphalt tracks including Fremont and Eldora Speedways.

After many years of self-employment and bitterly cold winters, Bill and Doris decided to relocate to Plant City, Florida, where they eventually got back into business for themselves, but this time specializing in farm equipment and named the business B & D Tractor Repair.

A good husband, father, and friend, Bill was an honest man who always tried to do the right thing and lend a hand when asked. He will be greatly missed and is survived by his loving wife, Doris, his daughter, Denise Lockard, his son, Todd, grandchildren, Jeremy and Brittany, and youngest sibling, Shirley Jones. Bill is predeceased by his oldest sibling, Myrtle Bradner.
