Our larger-than-life, legend about town, William (Bill) Robertson passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 14, 2022.
A classic New Yorker, avid traveller, proud Save The Frogs supporter, staunch NY Post subscriber, life-long lottery player (shout-out to Muhammed & 5989) and a true-blue Yankee fan, Bill lived every one of his 80 years to the fullest and finest.
Born and raised in New Jersey to devoted parents Catherine and Norman Robertson, Bill excelled at baseball, books, golf and galavanting. A real estate man for most of his professional life, he launched his career at J.I. Sopher and enjoyed a long stint in the industry he loved. He made best friends, met endless characters, brokered iconic deals and told enough only-in-NY stories for two lifetimes.
Whether he was in London’s Victoria pub, Molly’s on 3rd, Harry’s Bar Quesada, Bice c2000 or his most-beloved Tony’s on Mulberry Street (every single Sunday), he was home and happy.
A friend to all but always surrounded by strong women, he is survived by his two adoring daughters Pamela and Jennifer and his six champion (his word) granddaughters Emily (26), Anabella (25), Lily (22), Tess (19), Erin (19) and Violet (17). His life-partner-in-time Patricia (Bertucci) pre-deceased him in 2019, but his first wife Sharon (Mazzarella) of Rhode Island, his sweet Donna from Brooklyn and a few legendary lovelies will remember him well. While his two sons-in-law Chris Gagliano and Norm Brisebois always made valiant efforts to step up & keep up with Señor Bill.
Our family has chosen a private service, but a celebration of life with copious amounts of vino tinto is in the works. Thumbs up Dad - and cheers to a life well-lived and loved.

Pamela, and Jenny, Just wanted to say that I'll never forget your father. I worked in the same office as him for many years. We worked together and had a very good relationship. He came to my wedding. Your dad was kind, affectionate, classy, smart, and fun-loving. Every man should be like him. I specifically remember a story from work, back in 2008. I was constructing an apartment building that your father already started to pre-lease to tenants. When the Department Of Buildings had delays granting the Certificate Of Occupancy, it caused immense problems for the people who were slated to move in. This situation gave me a lot of sleepless nights and one day after another frustrating delay, I nearly had a nervous breakdown, and apologized to your dad for the delays in moving his clients into the building. I'll never forget your dad's response. Instead of getting upset at another delay, your dad saw I was distraught and said "Adam, did anyone die? Its gonna be alright." (meaning what's the big deal. There are bigger crises in life). Your dad's response was comforting and I'll never forget it. What a gentleman. Gd bless him.

I was one of your father’s friends from Rolf’s. I knew him and Pat for many years. I and several other friends unsuccessfully tried to keep in touch with him for a long time after Pat’s death but he never responded. We did not know, but suspected, that he had been ill. I am so very sorry to hear about his passing but today (12/3/23) is the first time we knew of it. May he rest in peace.
