Wendy Rasmussen
2 mars 1949 - 5 novembre 2021
2 mars 1949 - 5 novembre 2021
My precious mom, Wendy Kathleen Rasmussen, sadly passed away on Nov. 5, 2021 at the age of 72. Wendy was born in 1949, the youngest of 3 siblings and the only daughter to Rodney and Joyce Bemis. She grew up in Reseda, CA and eventually married my dad, Tom in 1968 at 19 years old. Together, they lived in Lake Tahoe, Reno and Denver where their first child, Erika (me), was born in 1980. In 1981 they settled in Westminster, CA where they later welcomed their second child, Kirk, in 1986. Although my parents separated in the early 90’s, they have remained good friends, always being there for my brother and I, as well as each other, which I will be forever grateful for. She had a long, successful career as a Legal Secretary where she met many of her closest friends. In her later years, she relocated to San Jacinto and eventually Corona, CA where she spent the last couple years of her life in her beautiful house that she absolutely loved. She enjoyed going to the movie theater, eating at Souplantation, sharing meals and long conversations with her friends and family, cuddling with her beloved kitties and attending events for her grandsons, Elijah and Joshua.
For anyone who knew my mom, one of her most memorable attributes was her incredible laugh. She was known to be recognized from across a crowded room, simply by the joyful bellow of her infectious laughter. It was so beautifully designed and so uniquely her. She had stories of this getting her into a bit of trouble when someone thought she was too loud, but she was unapologetic for it. I will hold the memory of her warm smile and uplifting laugh close to my heart forever.
The last time I saw my mom was Wednesday evening before she passed away (she passed early Friday morning). She casually mentioned to me that she saw 3 people standing in the corner of the room. She didn’t know who they were, but felt like she knew them. She wasn’t sure what to think of that, and tried to attribute it to the fact that she just needed new glasses. I didn’t know what to say as I didn’t want to scare her, so I just shrugged it off and changed the subject. By Friday morning when I received news that she had gone on to be with the Lord, the significance of that conversation came into focus. When I have mentioned this to people, some have suggested that she may have seen her two brothers (Larry and Bob) and her Mom (my Grammy Bemis), all of whom had previously passed away. Others suggested that it could have been the Father, Son and Holy Spirit or maybe even angels. I’m not sure which it was, but I find all of these possibilities comforting as they all suggest that she was surrounded by Love.
Her memory will always be cherished and she will be forever missed! We’d love for anyone to share their memories of her on this page. If you would like to honor her with a donation in her name to a charity that was near and dear to her, she often donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital which is a wonderful organization that helps so many children. This would be a great tribute to her!
In Loving Memory,

Please accept my belated deepest condolences as I just learned of Wendy's passing. I too worked with Wendy for many years, she was with Staff Counsel's office while I was in the Claims Dept. I lost touch after I moved to NoCal in '95 with a different company. I remember when she saw me walk in she would smile and say 'what's up little missy?' Or, 'oh Lord what did we do know?' Indeed, as you said, her laugh wad so genuine. I too remember her laugh, when i saw her picture i immediately heard her laugh again, remembered her as witty, smart, sharp and a kind person. Loved your words celebrating her life. My condomences to you and the family.

❤️ It’s been 2 years since my Mom went to be with the Lord. Still doesn’t seem real. I still have boxes of her things that I haven’t gone through yet. It’s a slow, beautiful and painful process. Sometimes I’ll sit down to finally begin the process, thinking this will be the day I will be productive. I’ll take out a single photo or trinket. All the memories attached to that one little item will flood my mind. I can’t take my eyes off it. Most of those memories will bring a smile to my face, but then, inevitably, the emotions become overwhelming. At some point I can barely see the item in my hand through the tears and so I gently place it back in the box and pack it up for another day. Love you and miss you Mom! Sending all my hugs and kisses to you today! ❤️

I recently came across this photo of my Mom with my baby brother, Kirk. I’d never seen this photo before, but I absolutely love it. It was taken at the park that was 3 houses down from the house we grew up in in Westminster. We spent a lot of time there as kids and there are so many happy memories attached to this. The soon to be setting sun looks so warm and inviting and seems to highlight the mood, almost as if to show how much she loved being a mom. So beautiful! Miss you Mom! Can’t wait to hug you again!

Hi mommy. It's November 1st and we're approaching 2 years you've been gone. I still cry so much mom. So effing much. I'm not sure I'll ever accept it. I miss you so much. If I had only known on the 1st of November what was to come in a short 4 days, the things I would have done, the things I would have said. I'll never forget that. After dad broke the news to me I just drove and found myself sitting in a parking lot. Sitting there just staring off. Zoned out. 9 hrs later, there I was still sitting in the same parking lot literally zoned out in disbelief as my mind was just a giant swirl of thoughts. Now 2 years I'm still a mess just like I was when dad broke the news to much. I can't begin to tell you how much I miss you mom. Still find myself crying all the time. Some people glorify the day their loved one passed away, calling it that persons heaven birthday. But honestly that's the stupidest shit I've ever heard. I'll never glorify november 5th. I will never glorify the void that has been left in my life, erika's and of course the void in dad's life. I can't imagine how he's been feeling these last couple years. Losing his best friend. Well mom it may be another year till I get back on here to write on here, but I know you hear me talking to you on the daily. I love and miss you Soo much mom. I don't know why but it's always so hard to end writing one here. It's like I'm letting go all over again. Letting go is the wrong way to put as I have not yet to even begin to let go or accept that my mommy is gone. This part of life just sucks Soo much. Im not sure I can go through with having 2 feel like this or honestly even worse when dad's time comes, God for bid. Just the thought of being parentless is something I'm terrified of. I don't wanna feel like this again. Just the thought breaks me. Literally makes my legs buckle if just the thought. I've got no wife no kids so growing old is not on my list to things to do. At this point the sooner the better. I would love to get the chance to see you sooner rather than later. Even if it is just a quick hug through the gates as I make my way down south of heaven. Like I told you before I'm going to hell and the devil's black. LOL. I love you mom'. Visit me in my dreams soon would ya. Love ya mother goose. Hope all is well with the family up stairs and give Hermann a pat on the head for me would ya. I LOVE YOU!
