Wendy Lee Perkonig (née Hagen) passed away on April 21, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and a friend to many. Wendy was born in Victoria to Kenneth Theodore and Grace Jubilee Hagen, and married her beloved Andy in Campbell River in 1975 before moving to Powell River where she and Andy led a life filled with joy and adventure.
Wendy traveled the world many times over with the love of her life, her daughters, and her close friends Don and Jean Klan. She was devoted to her church family and played an active role in encouraging the youth and helping refugee newcomers to Powell River. She displayed empathy and kindness to all who had the privilege of meeting her.
Wendy is survived by her husband Andy, her daughters Sarah (Dermot) and Emily, and her brother Daryl and family. Her funeral took place among her church family and friends at Evangel Church, Powell River, on April 27, 2026.

Dear Andy and family, may your memories and assurance of reuniting again in His time, comfort you in the coming hours and days ahead. I met Wendy and Andy when first moving to Powell River, and through church, home groups and group travels, had the privelege of getting to know them as loving, faithful followers of Jesus, and truly genuine people. Wendy had a peace, kindness and quietness about her that instilled trust. Bless you, Perkonig family.

Wendy was more than my cousin—she was my first role model, someone I looked up to long before I even understood what it meant to admire another person so deeply. Time going to Campbell River to visit at Uncle Ken’s and Aunty Grace‘s are some of my favourite memories. Growing up, I saw in Wendy a kind of kindness that felt effortless. Even as a young person she was thoughtful in the way she listened, caring in the way she showed up, and generous with her time and attention. No matter how small or insignificant I felt at times, (many times!) Wendy never once made me feel like a nuisance. She had a way of making people feel seen, heard, and valued—and I was lucky enough to experience that again and again. As a child, I didn’t always have the words for what she meant to me, but I knew I wanted to be like her. She set an example not through grand gestures, but through quiet, consistent compassion. The way she treated others—with patience, warmth, and sincerity—left a lasting impression on me my entire life. The impact Wendy has left is lasting. It lives on in the people she loved, in the kindness she gave, and in the memories we are privileged to have. I will always be grateful to have had her in my life and I am so thankful to have kept all the prayers she has prayed over me in the last few years, in our text messages. Till we meet again dear Wendy..I know you are rejoicing with all our family who have gone before. I love and miss you.
