Forever in our hearts
Victoria “Vicki” J Strickler (Whytsell) (1948–2023)
She was best known for her kindness to all, her go-getter attitude and being ornery. Victoria Jean Strickler, 74, of Wooster, OH, died at Medina Hospital on September 20, 2023.
She was born in Millersburg, OH on November 1, 1948, to Mary Jean Linebaugh and Victor Earl Whytsell. She grew up in Doylestown, OH where she spent her days making lifelong memories with her family and friends.
Vicki first met the love of her life, Gary, in high school while attending a track meet in Doylestown, OH where Gary was on the track team for Smithville High School and they later reconnected while Gary began serving in the US Air Force. Excited to start their new lives together, the two were married February 14, 1968, in Smithville, OH.
Vicki and Gary couldn’t wait to start a family of their own, and their daughters Christine and Tamara meant the world to them.
Though she loved spending time with friends and family, watching the news, and cooking and baking, Vicki’s favorite role was that as a grandparent. She treasured her time with her grandkids and loved being their grandma Vicki or grandma Strickler, never failing to offer her advice, share humbling stories of her past, and teaching her grandkids “a thing or two” about how to cook, bake and the world as she knew it.
Vicki had a soft spot for their furry friends, treating everyone like the valuable family member they were. Her yorkie pup, Diva, was her baby and boy does she live up to her name. Vicki spoiled her just as if she were one of her own kids or grandkids.
Vicki and her friends were practically inseparable throughout their lives. From getting into trouble to traveling, they were together through it all.
Vicki will always be remembered for connecting with others and never being afraid to express how she felt and her love for you. We’ll always imagine hearing her say “Love you so so much!” one more time. We couldn’t have asked for a better mom, grandma, aunt, cousin and friend, and will miss Vicki every day. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.
Vicki was preceded in death by her mother Mary, husband Gary, brother Mark, sister Betty Lou, and her father Victor, and is survived by daughters Christine Darrah and Tamara Petralia as well as her 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
