Recuerdos

“It was morning, the new sun sparkled gold across the ripples of a gentle sea.” Richard Bach, Jonathan Livingston Seagull

Born in Ventura, California.

Toni lived her best life in Corona del Mar, California. She and her 2nd husband, Dean Wickstrom

(1941-2012), met in the early 1970s and led an active life racing Hobie cats and skiing. They

embraced a large community of friends.

Toni was an artist at heart and always happiest creating, whether it be ceramics, beading,

painting, or decorating.

Toni was also an animal lover. As a young girl, she had many parakeets that she trained to talk,

and rode horses. She always had a dog and a cat, and in the 1980s, she rediscovered her love of

horses and became an avid English rider and equestrian. She spent many years at the stables,

riding and participating in equestrian shows.

Her love of the ocean was unwavering and in the years following her husband's death. It was the

community, friendships, and the ocean that brought her solace.

She is survived by her older brother Bill Weber, her two daughters, Rylen Lee-Feeney and

Blakely Wickstrom, and her granddaughter Rhianna Feeney.

Additionally, there will be a small service held in the early spring and we will post the details to this site.

I lived with Toni and her family back in the 80s as a live in nanny for Blakely. I had the most wonderful time with Toni, Dean, Blakely and Rylen when she came to visit. I met Toni at the gym, where she was teaching classes aside from having her own company, a small child and her horse. Toni treated me as family the whole time. She was kind and funny and always very generous. They always took me out to dinner, events and trips with them. I greatly enjoyed my time at her home. It was a very special experience in my life, I happily remember! Thank you for being such a wonderful and memorable part of my life! Toni you will be missed! Love Gudrun

Mom was an artist, who taught me to seek beauty in the world. Like all of us, she was complicated, she was funny, and she loved her friends and family with a ferocity. She was quick to debate if she didn’t agree and liked to say she was just passionate, but sometimes that passion burned into a quick rage, which could be a wee bit hot! Coming up as a young woman in the '50s and '60s and having a young child as a single mother in the early '70s wasn’t easy, she worked hard to provide for the two of us. I don’t believe, that she ever wanted to be a part of the women’s liberation movement, but women’s liberation found her by necessity. When she met her second husband, Dean, my stepfather in the mid-70s, she embraced the stability and lifestyle it offered her. The mid-70s to 80s were a time of happiness for her. My sister was born, she had a strong community and she felt safe and secure. My mother and I had, at times, a difficult relationship. Wounds that never really healed and that she insisted we rehash over and over again, but I always knew how deeply she loved me and always believed in me. It doesn’t diminish her beauty, her laughter, her humor, her fierce love, her art. It just humanizes her. It completes the picture. After the loss of Dean in 2012, her life became a bit harder. With both her daughters long grown and out of the house she was truly alone day to day. For a period of time, she really embraced her painting and stayed active taking long walks on the ocean and staying active with friends. She was a fighter and she fought back the dementia that crept in with the same determination and strength she applied to everything in life, basically with all she had. Haha fiercely. When my sister and I placed her in memory care in 2020 it was heartbreaking, but once she surrendered and realized she didn't have to hold up her whole universe anymore, there was a period of relative ease and lighthearted silliness that presented. This was honestly a relief and a welcome respite from seeing her struggle so very hard. Dementia is a heartless condition that reduced her world and life to a very small existence. So it is with relief that she has now passed from this world. I love you ❤️
