Psalm 23:4 - "Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff—they comfort me."
Thomas C. Galmore, Jr., 78, peacefully passed away and went home to be with his Lord Jesus on October 14, 2024. He was born on February 27, 1946, in Charlevoix County to Thomas Sr. and Annabelle (Ostrander) Galmore. Tom graduated from East Jordan High School in 1964.
On June 19, 1965, Tom married Carol S. Chase, and together they raised their family in East Jordan for 36 years. In the summer of 2014, Tom and Carol retired to Florida.
Tom and his father, Thomas Sr., owned and operated Galmore’s Incorporated along with his son David until Tom retired in 2006. Tom enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including woodworking, snowmobiling, motorcycle riding, boating, and camping. One of his favorite pastimes was traveling to Canada for fishing trips. He also loved playing cards and assembling puzzles. Above all, Tom cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Tom was a caring, loving, and devoted man, and those who knew him will miss him dearly. He is now in heaven, free from pain and surrounded by peace.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Carol (Chase) Galmore; sons Thomas C. III (Danielle) Galmore and David A. (Teresa) Galmore; and daughter Christine M. (John) McGill. He is also survived by his six grandchildren and his sisters, Beth Prebble and Shari (Dan) Nachazel; his sister-in-law, Mary Galmore and several nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Sue; his parents, Tom and Annabelle Galmore; and his brother, James Galmore, along with his brother-in-law, Ray Prebble.

A Tribute from Sister Shari to Her Brother Tom Growing up just two years apart, Tom and I were more than siblings—we were partners in crime. From pulling pranks to making each other laugh until we cried, we shared a bond that only comes from a childhood packed with mischief, love, and a whole lot of inside jokes. One of my favorite stories? The Homecoming Escape of the Century. I had been grounded (for something I’m sure was totally unjustified), and Tom, being the best big brother ever, helped me stage a great escape. He actually propped a ladder up to my window so I could sneak out. I went, I danced, I had the time of my life! That is... until I came home and found Mom standing there with that look. She simply said, “I hope you are both proud of yourselves,” and then—classic Mom—never mentioned it again. Not a word to Dad. Our secret was safe. Tom had a legendary sense of humor. He and I used to buy these things called “cigarette loads”—little prank devices you’d stick into the end of a cigarette, and when someone lit it... boom! End of the cigarette-gone. We got Dad more than once, and even our sister-in-law, while she was at the hospital working as a nurse. I can still hear that pop and the startled scream followed by all of us laughing like maniacs. But beyond the jokes and pranks, Tom was good at everything. Seriously. He could fix, build, or figure out just about anything. And every summer, like clockwork, Dad would have us wash and wax the boat. We’d roll our eyes, do the work, and then—reward time—Dad would gas it up and off we’d go. Life was good on the lake. Water skiing, sunshine, and of course, more mischief. One of our favorite tricks was spraying innocent bystanders on the dock with water from the skis. If you were standing on that dock when Tom or I was behind the wheel, you were getting soaked. Guaranteed. Tom wasn’t just my brother—he was my co-conspirator, my protector, and one of the best parts of my life. I miss him dearly, but I’m so grateful for the laughter, the adventures, and the memories that will always make me smile. Here’s to you, Tom—forever my favorite partner in crime.

My most memorable time at Uncle Tom’s house was one I don’t actually remember. But I’ve sure been told about it. I was 3 years old, and jumping on the trampoline with my older cousins. We were having a great time until I came down as someone jumped up, and my little legs couldn’t handle the bounce. I broke my leg and my mom, Angie, was horrified that her oldest and favorite son had gotten injured. That didn’t dissuade me from coming back over the next few years and enjoying Aunt Carol and Uncle Tom’s company.

Landon had such a special relationship with his grandpa. We lived in different states so the time they had together was always filled with so much laughter!

I have so many memories of growing up with your dad it’s hard to know where to begin! He was a year older than myself, so I was always trying to catch up with some of the crazy stuff young boys do. Your grampa Galmore had the lake lot next door to our cottage on the South Arm so when grandpa would talk the gang waterskiing I would check out the new trucks your dad would do, and then practice that new trick for the next week so I could show him I could do it next Tim he came out to the lake and by then he was on to another one! But , snowmobiling, motorcycle trips out west, fishing in the UP ! He was just a great friend over and above a cool cousin! We will miss him but never forget!

Our yearly fishing trips to our 51st state (Canada) will always be some of my favorite memories. And I know Dad always loved going. I was only able to go on this trip a few times. I have no idea how many times Dad was able to go. But he told stories of being a teenage the first time he went. Mom would pre-make easy to cook meals for our dinners. Because let's face it, none of us could cook anything but fish for lunch and eggs for breakfast. But we could always have fish for lunch and breakfast! We always went to the same place. The Norway House at Frontier Lodge on Raw Hide Lake, Ontario. A cabin on the lake with no electricity and freshly dug (some years) outhouses in the back. The only running water was a pipe pushed into a spring on the side of a hill, which was about a 2-mile boat trip from the camp. Funny, we could never get our wives to go. Wonder why?
