Thomas Eugene McGowan
3 de julio de 1960 - 30 de diciembre de 2025
3 de julio de 1960 - 30 de diciembre de 2025
Thomas Eugene McGowan was born on July 3, 1960, in Corpus Christi, Texas, and passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, in Houston, Texas. He was deeply loved and will be remembered for his generous heart, quiet strength, and the goodness he carried into the lives of those around him.
Thomas was a graduate of Hastings High School in Alief ISD and later attended Texas State Technical Institute in Waco, Texas. Curious by nature, he took pride in understanding how things worked. That curiosity became a defining part of his life—not as ambition, but as care. He believed that if something was worth having, it was worth tending to.
On March 1, 2003, Thomas married Judy, the love of his life. Together they built a family grounded in love, loyalty, and shared laughter. He was the devoted father of Ashley (Christopher) Blake, Austin (Heather) McGowan, and Cassidy (Cristo) McGowan, and a loving stepfather to Charlie Wilson. He was a proud and affectionate grandfather to Ayla and Carlin Chau, Gwendolyn McGowan, and Shawn and Jacob Wilson. He is also survived by his brother, Ted McGowan, and his nephew, Theodore McGowan. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Mary.
Thomas had a gift for fixing things: cars that would not start, machines taken apart piece by piece and patiently put back together, and sometimes people. He was unafraid of what was broken and never rushed the process. That same instinct extended beyond tools and engines. When someone came to him with a problem, he listened first and offered help without judgment or expectation.
He brought that same care to his work. Thomas had an incredible work ethic—steady, reliable, and deeply principled. He showed up, worked hard, and took pride in doing things well, not for praise, but because it mattered to him to do right by others.
Thomas never hesitated to help someone in need. It was not something he talked about or sought recognition for; it was simply who he was. His kindness was steady and practical, rooted in action rather than words. He gave freely of his time, his skills, and his attention, doing so with humility, joy, and grace.
Music filled the air often in Thomas’s life. He loved classic rock—Pink Floyd, the Steve Miller Band, Led Zeppelin, and many others—and it was almost always playing somewhere in the background. He sang along. He danced without self-consciousness. Music, like so many things he loved, was meant to be felt and shared.
Thomas found joy in staying active and connected. He played softball and loved the simple pleasure of the game. He was proud of bowling a perfect 300 game, a moment that reflected both his skill and quiet determination. A devoted sports fan, he faithfully cheered on the Houston Astros and never failed to support the Dallas Cowboys. He also loved television, film, sports, and current events, remaining impressively tech-savvy until the very end.
Above all, Thomas was kind-hearted, loyal, funny, and deeply good. His presence made spaces feel warmer. His love made people feel safe. To those closest to him, he passed on something lasting—a way of moving through the world with patience, generosity, and an open heart.
As we remember Thomas, we honor a life lived with intention, love, and deep care for others. Though he is no longer with us, the example he set and the love he gave will continue to guide and inspire those who carry him in their hearts, where his kindness built a lasting scaffold. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

We only met a few times through our wives, but I remember you as a good man, someone I could relate to because of our similar work. You have a wonderful wife in Judy. I pray that you find refuge in our Lord Jesus Christ, and that He grants you rest, eternal peace, and comfort.

I met Thomas and Judy when I was 18 years old. Words can not express how saddened I am about this loss. Thomas was the funniest most loving person I ever met in a bowling alley. He and Judy fit so perfectly and I know its hard. You two took care of me more than you know i love you. I will pray for you all and Judy I am only a phone call away. Love Marlene
