For Sylvia's memorial we are asking that anyone who knew her share stories about how she impacted your life. If you have such a story, please write it in the "tribute" section at the lower right side of this page. Sylvia was cremated according to her wishes. Her remains will be placed in her beloved birthplace of Puerto Rico. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, July 6 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at her home church, the Urban Vineyard at 2145 N. Maplewood, Chicago, Illinois.
Tita passed away surrounded by those she loved, and admired by all that witnessed her heart of faithful worship and her passion for social justice. She raised four children who love Jesus and watched ten grandchildren grow in the same. She died having held six great-grandchildren and having been an example of faith to those around her. The echoes of her life ring across these generations in monument to a woman who stood as an anchor in her love for Jesus for those buffeted by life's rough waters. She was Sylvia to some, but "Tita" to all. To be absent with the body is to be present with the Lord. She will be greatly missed, but those who follow Christ know that death is a temporary condition and that we will meet her again when the King comes to put everything back as it should be.

I knew Sylvia from the Board of trade, she was always nice and friendly. May she rest in peace. She will truly be missed.

Sylvia was a very warm great-grandmother. She won over Micah (seated on her lap in this photo) and he is not won over easily! She got them all to stick their tongues out. As she was fading away she allowed Remi (next to Micah) to play her a song on his guitar.

I knew her as a genuinely kind and sweet woman, a faithful believer in Christ, loved and respected by her family and friends. I’m glad to have known her. My condolences to the Claudio family

One of the things I admired most about Sylvia was the loving care she gave to her own mom and brother. Sylvia was not a woman of great means but she worked hard to take care of both of them.
