Steve Duran passed away at the age of 61 after a courageous battle with cancer. Steve was born in West Texas to Stephen A. and Carla Duran. He was raised in the Bay Area of California eventually moving back to Texas in 1984 to further his career.
Within two years of working at a major insurance company, Steve was named national sales leader at the age of 23. He went on to become a sales trainer and quickly moved into Human Resources where he created and managed compensation programs and information systems. Steve had an uncanny ability to analyze tough problems and find solid, creative solutions. He was often sought out to lend his unique way of thinking beyond the ordinary.
Steve will always be remembered for his positive outlook, fun-loving spirit, and the enthusiasm he put into everything he did. Steve was the proudest dad and loved creating memories with his family. He was passionate about his children and all their activities and spent time coaching them in everything from scholastic competitions to soccer.
In the spirit of giving to the community and finding unique solutions to problems, Steve donated his body to UTSW to help advance scientific research.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Kelly, his children, Camille, Stephen, Alex, and Grace; his nieces and nephews, Chris, Misty, Chelsea, Daniel, Joshua, and Anthony. Steve is preceded in death by his father Stephen, his mother, Carla, and his brother, Paul.
An informal Celebration of Life honoring Steve will be scheduled for a later date. Information will be posted on this website.

Steve was a wonderful individual and I feel blessed to have been able to work with him. He talked a lot about his family with lots of love. He was awesome to work with and mentored naturally and cared very much about supporting those on his team as well as the needs to support the business. He had a large heart and will be greatly missed!

I remember the first time I met Steve when he interviewed for the job at Jack Henry. There was just something special about him and the way he talked to others. He has always been someone I could share ideas with and get advise from. I am grateful to have known him and appreciate all he taught me.

Before I even started at Jack Henry and did my interview with Steve I could just tell how much he cared about people. Once I started to work with him he showed his care for everyone and you could just tell how much he loved his family.
