Stanley Jacot

26 mai 1932 - 18 mai 2021
To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
Stanley E Jacot, born May 26, 1932 passed away May 18, 2021 unexpectedly. On his last day in this world, he enjoyed time with his family and spent the afternoon doing what he loved - chopping wood… being in the beautiful outdoors and getting some work done!
Stanley is survived by his wife Shirley Keller, sister Annette Erickson, and 9 children: Jeff Jones, Gregg Jacot (wife Connie), Andy Jacot, Janice Dunlop (husband Michael), Stanley Jacot Jr. (wife France), Doug Keller (wife Wendy), Richard Keller (wife Shelly), David Keller, Daniel Keller (wife Ruth); 20 grandchildren: Jason Jacot (wife Tia), Erin Jacot, Alex Jacot (wife Alayna), Jennifer McLeod (husband Josh), Ethan Jacot, Cody Jacot, Brett Jacot, Claire Jacot, Anna Jacot, Sydney Ashman (husband Nick), Nathan Keller, Lauren Barbosa (husband Fidel), Anna Fox (husband Nic), Nathaniel Keller, Isaac Keller and Ben Keller , Caitlyn Nisbett (husband Jeremy), Joseph Keller (wife Kaitlyn), Izzy Keller and 3 great grandchildren: Delaney Girard, Mikayla McLeod, and Carter Jacot. He recently inherited another family member, Tony Keller when he moved to the beach. Quite the family legacy!
Stan was born in St. Maries, Idaho to Anna and Elie Jacot. He is preceded in death by his 4 brothers, Alfred, Kenneth, Owen (Spark), Alex and sister, Nancy Ann. They grew up farming, raising livestock while his father worked at the mill. He frequently shared that as a kid at night, he had to do the dishes. He loved that job as he listened to his mother play the piano while he did the one easy chore he had.
After high school he worked at a diner while he attended Kinman business school in Spokane, WA where he learned accounting. At 21 years old, he was in the middle of a logging harvest and had logs on the ground ready to skid to the river when he was drafted into service by the Army. The US government allowed him a short delay for his service entrance until he could get the logs processed for his family. Got to finish the work! While in the Army he was stationed in Texas where he met and married his first wife, Delores Jones in 1954. They moved a bit, living in Washington, Idaho, and Florida before settling in Oregon to raise their 3 sons; Jeff, Gregg, Andy, and baby girl who passed immediately after birth.
He was working for ITO, a grain company, where he met and married his second wife, Jean Harper May 24, 1967. They lived in Portland, raising their children Janice and Stan, Jr. attending and actively serving at Burlingame Baptist church for many years.
He met his third wife, Shirley Keller, while cooking at Lackamas Lake Camp for an outreach ministry with the Union Gospel Mission. There they both served with the Child for Christ Crusade which impacted the lives of countless children. They were married Dec 19, 1997 in Auckland New Zealand, where he began a beautiful adventure of almost 24 years with his dear Shirley – traveling and cruising the Panama Canal, the Caribbean and Hawaii; traveling as missionaries to places like Klemtu in British Columbia and as far as Lebanon, stopping in Germany. They also frequented New Zealand, Shirley’s home country, Tahiti, Mexico, Canada, and to various places around the US to share family time and visit their extended family. Always ready to support his family, Stan regularly attended sports for kids and grandkids, cheering them on proudly and he celebrated many milestones, graduations, marriages, and births - always a gentle soul, he was amazing at rocking and singing the babies to sleep.
Stan was a bookkeeper, auditor, and accountant for over 25 year in the grain industry. He worked for the Pacific Northwest Grain Growers, frequently traveling to the port of Kalama, WA. He expanded his bookkeeping and made it his own business, Crown Services Co., and had many clients over the years where he provided tax preparation and payroll support. Always the industrious one, he expanded and started his own lawn maintenance and it grew almost with a life of its own – he could not turn down work! On Oct 1, 2020 (yes, last year) he finally retired and he loved it! It gave him time to move to the beach and to really work for himself.
Stan and Shirley made their home in Portland for 23 years and were members of Village Baptist Church during this time. They bought some land nearby where Stan was able to setup a barn again – always the farmer - where they could tend a huge garden. Eventually, they sold the land for development. Part of their family came to the neighborhood, as Doug’s family bought one of the lots and built a home across the street. Doug and the family eventually retired to Neskowin on the coast. Stan and Shirley eventually followed a few years later and called Neskowin home as of December last year. Richard and Shelly also joined them, moving all the way from Indiana. So, Stan and Shirley couldn’t have been happier as they always loved being near family. Their home at the coast sits in a timber and Stan loved the yard maintenance and logging and the beautiful space of nature among close family near the sea shore.
Stan loved his country, his family, and the Lord with all his heart, and he lived his life with kindness and joy, always full of faith and forgiveness. Stan, Stanley, “Jay”, Papa, Pops, Grandpa and “my dear” – all loving names for a great loving man who will be deeply missed by his many family and friends.
A celebration of Stan’s life will be held at Village Baptist church on Monday, June 7th at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests any memorial contributions in honor of Stan be directed to Village Baptist Missions through Village Baptist Church (https://www.villagebeaverton.com) or The Marine Corps Law Enforcement scholarship (https://www.mc-lef.org/how-to-donate) which helps support families of the fallen.
Always giving, Stan donated his body to science. His remains will be interred later in the year at Willamette Cemetery with a small family military service.

Stan Jacot will always be one of my greatest heroes in life! When I met him in about 1984, he was on the board of the Union Gospel Ministries / Mission of Portland and I was the Director of one of the ministries of UGM (the "Child For Christ" program). Stan was a board member who was directly involved and willing to serve in the humblest of ways. He volunteered at our over night camp at Lacamas Lake in Washington and worked in the kitchen helping get meals out to all the kids. He was so gentle and kind to everyone around him, quiet, unassuming and yet capable and always looking to meet a need or help in whatever way he could. Later on when the organization was going through some extreme trials and the superintendent decided to fire a number of Staff from the Mission (including me), Stan went above and beyond the call in caring and looking out for me through that situation. He and his wife Shirley gathered reference letters from many associated to the ministry and Stan took them to a Board meeting and recommended to the board that I be given severance pay for my two plus years of service with the Mission. The superintendent objected vehemently, as he was on a personal mission to punish those of us who would not "tow the line", and chose instead to make decisions according to our consciences, and stand up what we believed was right at the time, even though it meant losing our jobs / positions in ministry. Stan persisted in his advocacy for me before the board and they made the decision to give me severance pay. That did so much to overcome "being fired" as I continued on the path of life, seeking to find where I was next to serve. Over the coming 6 months, God provided a great temporary job and, on the very day that my temporary job was finishing, I started my career as a Police Officer, which has led to every job / position that I have held since that time through to my current employment with the State of Oregon as a Mediator and Investigator. Had it not been for Stan's faithfulness in helping me, I have no idea how things might have progressed, or if I would have gotten the position as a Police Officer that led to so much provision in my life. I can still remember the Officer who was doing my background, prior to being hired. He said that the letters he received and the interviews he had done with people like Stan made him think that I might be the fourth member of the trinity(chuckle). In closing, I look forward to seeing you soon Stan, and I am holding on to the hope of our resurrection in Yeshua! My prayers are for Shirley and your family as I know your loss will be felt deeply, and my love, admiration, and affection for you will always be deeply felt in the depths of my being. Michael Hintz
