I cannot express how hard this year has been on Berea Baptist. Today we lay to rest Stanley Cheatham. A rock. A leader. A worker. Earlier this year we laid his brother James to rest and all the same could be said of him. I cannot express how important Stanley was to our church, association, and community. He was simply one of the best deacons I could’ve ever asked to have. He is one of the best men I’ll ever know. I hate that we lose him but heaven has gained another great man. My prayers are with Charlotte Cheatham and her family today. I do wish I could be with you all. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. - 2 Timothy 4:7-8

I can fondly remember Mr. Cheatham being my substitute teacher all through middle school many years ago. My favorite memory of Mr. Cheatham was when he was substituting in my PE class that I had at the time. He let us have fun, we got play, and he seem to even enjoy it himself. My heart breaks for everyone in your family because I can remember catching up with him in public and talking with him just about life and how me and my family were doing. He always seem to become so happy when he would see me and my daughter out in town - I could tell that he really did love kids. He was by far the nicest and kindest man I have ever met. I know that he will truly be missed by me and many others! We will be praying for everyone in the family during this time.

I am so sorry for your loss Bridgette Cheatham Guest. We lost our mom less than a month ago. This time we are living in has really made the grieving process “different” to say the least. I’m sending you and your family my love and prayers with hope that in some way it will help heal your hurt.

Oh how I love Charlotte and Stanley! The sweetest couple - and so sincere. You were so young when we attended church together! Many times of laughter and joy with those two. Heaven is much sweeter with your dad there. Love you Charlotte!

Your dad truly was special. I remember Monica breaking her arm and your dad calling us to please let her play softball and she wanted to so bad. The first practice she got hit on her arm she had broken and so that ended her career in softball, but your dad called and was so sweet and thanked us for letting her try again. I'll always remember that. Praying for your family.
