Shu Li Sung Fu 傅宋淑麗 July 17, 1942 - April 29, 2022 Shu Li Sung Fu 傅宋淑麗 was born on July 17, 1942 in Chutung, Hsinchu County, Taiwan, 竹東,新竹縣, 台灣, the daughter of Sen Chih Sung 宋森枝 and Chin Yen Chung Sung 宋鍾錦燕. Shu Li was the eldest of six siblings. After graduating from Shih Chien Home Economics College 實踐家政經濟專科學校 in 1963, she worked as a junior high school geography teacher in Chutung. On February 1, 1966, she married her beloved, Dr. Yuan Shiang Fu 傅遠祥, and had two children. Her son Kenneth Shih Chiun 傅世群 born in 1968 and her daughter Suzy Shih Hsin 傅世欣 born in 1971. In 1974, Shu Li immigrated to the United States, sacrificing her family, friends, and life in Taiwan. Through her selfless devotion, she dedicated herself and provided a loving home for Yuan, Ken, and Suzy in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was the family's foundation, supporting Ken through his career in the military and encouraging Suzy in teaching. Shu Li's favorite and most important, meaningful, and special role was as a wonderful Apo 阿婆 (the Chinese term for grandmother) to her five grandchildren Katie, James, Harold, Preston, and Peyton. She treasured taking care of them and found great joy spending annual family holidays together. After Yuan passed away in 2006, Shu Li moved in with Suzy's family in Boston, Massachusetts. She was like a third parent to Katie, James, and Harold. She cooked delicious traditional Hakka Chinese meals and most importantly shared stories of her life in Taiwan. Months before her passing, she moved in with Ken's family in Washington D.C. She enjoyed Preston's and Peyton's activities and companionship, rekindled her love for ballroom dancing, discovered the special treat of massages and salon treatments, and continued to share her Taiwan life stories. Shu Li is remembered for her gentle spirit, kind heart, caring, and loving ways. She filled her home with warmth, kindness, laughter, love, and devotion to family. Our deep sorrow and sadness leave us heartbroken, yet at peace, knowing that she passed gently, surrounded by her loving family's warm embrace to join her beloved husband Dr. Yuan S. Fu. Shu Li Sung Fu 傅宋淑麗 was predeceased by her parents, Sen Chih Sung 宋森枝 and Chin Yen Chung Sung 宋鍾錦燕, her husband, Dr. Yuan Shiang Fu 傅遠祥, and her brother Chun Cheng Sung 宋純正. She is survived by her son, Colonel Kenneth Shih Chiun Fu 傅世群, his wife Tina, and grandsons Preston Si Jie思傑 and Peyton Si Zhe思哲; and her daughter, Suzy Shih Hsin Drurey 傅世欣, her husband Richard, and grandchildren Katharine Sooli 淑麗, James Richard, and Harold Ensho 遠祥. She leaves loving siblings in Taiwan, Hui Li Sung 宋慧麗, Chun Ming Sung 宋純明, Chun Chih Sung 宋純志, and Chun Chi Sung 宋純吉. A celebration of life memorial service will be held Saturday, June 11 at 11:00 am EDT at the United Church of Christ in Medfield, Massachusetts, to come together to celebrate the life of our beautiful and beloved Shu Li.
