Shirley Royster

Shirley Ann Royster was born on August 10, 1937 to Ella Belle Williams in Florida. Shirley was an only child that loved and tenderly cared for her mother. Shirley Ann and Dudley Clifton Royster were married on March 12, 1953. To this union 3 children were born: Alan, Gwendolyn, and Kimberly Brian.

Family was very important to Shirley. She was a devoted wife and affectionately called “Child Bride” by her loving husband, known as “Mother” by her children, and “Grandma” by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Shirley was deeply loved by her family.

Shirley was a tremendous asset to her community. She loyally served her heavenly Father Jehovah for many years and attended the Greenlawn congregation with so many of her dearly loved friends. Shirley loved pioneering and sharing Bible truths with family, friends, and members of her community. She was instrumental in helping her husband, children, and many others come to know & love Jehovah. Shirley was well known for her humility, honesty, compassion, and generosity.

Shirley had a strong hope for the future. She was confident in the Bible’s promise found at John 5:28,29: “Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out….” It was this sure hope that Shirley spoke of with all and she confidently looked forward to being reunited with those she lost in death.

Shirley Ann Royster fell asleep in death on May 21, 2020. She was preceded by her mother (Ella Williams), her husband of 55 years (Dudley Royster), her daughter (Gwendolyn Chisolm), and her son (Kimberley Brian Royster). Shirley leaves her son Alan Royster (wife Deidre) to cherish her memories. Others cherishing her memories are: Alan Royster, Jr (wife Laronda), Roshawn Perham (husband Richard), Tiffiny Royster, Antoine Royster, Qwentina Jones, Artemis Royster, Maya Royster, Marcus Royster, and a host of great-grandchildren.
