Aditi Mahale
Satish Mahale
28 de febrero de 1945 - 9 de febrero de 2021
28 de febrero de 1945 - 9 de febrero de 2021
Satish Shrinivas Mahale lived a full and happy life. He was born in the small town of Ankola, 5th among 11 siblings. He was curious, meticulous, and goal driven. He self-taught himself most areas of his interest. He loved painting, carpentery, mountaineering, photography and Hindi film music.
He was a supportive husband, sharing the load at home even before it became mainstream. A feminist before his times, he brought up both his daughters with a lot of love, care and encouragement for independent thought. He was loved, respected and feared for his discipline and straightforward talk within his family.
Satish had an illustrious career with many highlights and achievements at the Intelligence Bureau. This was followed by an equally strong career in private service. His work ethics and reporting were often highly commended by his superiors and peers.
He was diagnosed in Dec 2020 with Advanced Lung Cancer which had already metasized through his body. He underwent treatment at Tata Memorial Mumbai, but due to age and other existing health issues, the prognosis was bleak. He succumbed to the disease at night on 9th Feb 2020 and moved on to a better place.
His was a life well lived. He will always be loved and missed.

Satish mama, love and respect come naturally for you. Known for being a strong personality, with few but deliberate and straightforward words and uncompromised principles, you earned respect in all spheres of life. But I know that behind this tough exterior, was a kind hearted loving person with a God gifted talent for art. You will always be respected for a habit of meticulous approach to work and adherence to principles. You were a professional par excellence, an exceptional artist and a loving human being. I feel blessed to have known you as your nephew. Our prayers are with you for your journey ahead. Om Shanti.
Chandrashekhar Prabhu
Satish Mahale met me first in the early eighties. We have been meeting regularly ever since. Initially, meeting me was a part of his work. He discussed issues of interest to his department and people, groups, organisations were analysed by me for him. He had a very loveable personality and that drew him closer to me. Soon he became more of a friend and later part of my family. So much was the friendship between us that I was convinced by him to do some detailed work for his department and on his behalf. Even after he retired from service we continued to bind together like a family and always maintained our close relationship. Every occasion and function in his family had to be attended by us and vice versa. He was always there whenever we needed his advice, and always looked for advice and guidance when he felt the need to get it. Over a period of years his family and extended family became part of mine and mine his. A person of integrity and honesty who did not hesitate to speak his mind to all concerned, we had a lot in common. Not only did we share the appreciation of honesty and practice integrity in our lives, but also tried to change things wherever possible because we were convinced about the need to set things right. In the recent years he spent more time in Ankola and later in Karwar, We kept in touch on WhatsApp and the social media. I continued to be under the impression that he was in Karwar until I came to know about his sad departure. I would have loved to speak to him while he was in Mumbai during his brief illness. He lived a fulfilled life and almost all his wishes were fulfilled. He accomplished everything he intended to achieve and more, and never did I find him in a pensive mood nor did he appear dissatisfied about anything he tried to achieve. I would have loved to spend more time with him, but that was not to be. Farewell my friend. I am sure you will continue to be what you were, in your new role, wherever you are. Your good wishes will always be with your family and friends and you will continue to shower blessings on all, for all times to come.

Whatever I say about our dearest Satishmama shall not do justice to how he was. I have a huge repository of very precious times we spent together as a family. His strength of character, integrity and inteliigence reflected in the way he perceived the world and made an huge impact in the lives of others. What I really loved about him is that he was also a feminist Dad and his clarity of thought was incredible a great sounding board with terrific humor. So proud to be his neice and he will be fondly remembered, forever. Love you, Satishmama.
