I am so sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of working with Sam for over six years. He was a good friend as well as a colleague. My thoughts are with you and your family.

I knew Sam as a very bright caz, having stayed with him for three years while attending college in Nairobi. My uncle PK and aunt hosted me when Sam was in classes 3-5. Ivy, Ken and Sheila were away in boarding schools,. I remember Sam for one major milestone in my life, that of mastering the game of Chase. Until this time, I still wonder how a lad of class 3, would checkmate me without a sweat. Here I was in college and Sam in class 4, and he would win all the games. Due to this I developed a kin interest in Chase, to the extent of attending tournaments, that used to be hosted at 680 hotel, YMCA .... When time came for me to get married, I remember telling my wife Naomi that one of the first toys to buy for our daughter would be a chase board, something she could not understand, but the real reason was to train my first born child on how to play chase, with the hope that she would avenge for me and proof to Sam that winning was in my DNA,. Whenever Sam won a game, I would pretend that I had let him win since he was just a child, but within me I knew I was doing poorly on this front. So when my first born child, Abbie attained an age of three years, I bought her the first chase board, among many more to come.. i tried to coach her by creating interesting moments while playing a game, but to no avail. All the pcs would be thrown all over, and my dream of having a ' part of me' defeating Sam did not actualize. So whenever I would meet him, the first thing I would promise myself is that, one day, one day.... It's my hope that Kinyash will take up the game, and he and my Lucie can have a go at each other. ...... watch this space.....more to come

Uncle Sam, a few memories have come back to me over the past couple of weeks but one I have to share is the time I came to London and on the drive from the airport I made a joke saying I would like to be a Manchester United fan and you pulled over to tell me to get out, the way I couldn’t contain my laughter!! Of course I know we are strictly Liverpool it was just a test to see if you’d crack. After I sent you the pictures of your grandson Chris-Anthony playing soccer you told me how excited and happy you were to see him learning the basics. When I think of you there are too many memories to speak about but I am glad that we made them and got to experience them. You will forever be our sunshine in the sky.
