Rusvelia "Ruby" Knight
31 octobre 1956 - 10 mai 2025
31 octobre 1956 - 10 mai 2025
Our hearts are heavy as we share the passing of Rusvelia “Ruby” Knight, a loving and devoted mother, wife, sister, grandmother and friend whose warmth, laughter, and generosity touched everyone she met. She passed away peacefully at home on May 10th, 2025, following a courageous battle with a sudden and aggressive illness. Ruby loved her family so deeply, she held on with incredible strength and determination until she knew her new baby grandson Felix had arrived safely in the world. Just months earlier, she had kept her illness at bay long enough to attend her daughter’s wedding, a beautiful moment she was so proud to be part of.
Ruby was a woman who never met a stranger, her smile and laugh could light up any room, and people were naturally drawn to her beauty, charisma and magnetic spirit. She showed her love through food, cooking unforgettable meals that brought people together and made everyone feel cared for. Her generosity knew no bounds; she gave openly and freely, always remembering people’s favorite things and going out of her way to make others feel special.
Ruby also had the most extraordinary green thumb. Her garden, which once won awards, was her quiet sanctuary, a lush, vibrant space she lovingly nurtured and labored in. It continues to provide her family peace and comfort now in her absence.
Ruby stood fiercely for her beliefs and convictions, and she lived with passion, purpose, and deep love for those closest to her. Above all, Ruby was an extraordinary mom and wife. She loved her family with a depth and fierceness that shaped every part of her life. Being a mother was her true calling, and she embraced it with unmatched devotion. She was, without a doubt, one of the very best moms and the best thing in her familys life. With her passing, the world has lost a little of its sunshine.
She is survived by her loving husband, Edward Knight; daughters, Carly Knight and Nikki Knight; sons-in-law, David Macdonald and Gary Martinez; her loving cat Suki, and her brand-new baby grandson, Felix Macdonald Knight, who will forever carry a piece of his grandmother with him as he came into the world just as she left it. She is also survived by her sisters, Mirna Cavaniel Lozada and Norys Cavaniel Lozada; her brothers, Benito Cavaniel and Freddy Cavaniel; and her nieces and nephews, Gabriella, Rusmir, and Papi.
She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Josefina.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date and announced via her social media page, once her daughter and grandson are able to travel.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Brain Foundation to support research into rapidly progressive dementias.

Y es más bello vivir cantando" - Celia Cruz
