I saw Roy at class reunions but I received a call from him early this year we spoke about his life and mine and he remembered a favor that I did for him probably 60 years ago and I must admit I didn’t remember but he never forgot and was so grateful that he insisted on sending me a gift certificate for my favorite restaurant, he will always have a special place in my heart

The world lost a great soul. I will miss your stores and your smile. Until we met again.

I always remember Roy being so supportive of the clogging group as well as being our biggest fan. I love the picture on here, because that smile is what I think of when I think of him. The world has a big hole in it with him and his gentle spirit gone.

I only knew Roy for a short while, but it doesn’t take long after meeting him to know that he was a great man. Right away you could tell that he had a genuine honest character and truly cared about people. Despite his great wisdom and experience he would always treat a person with equal respect, everyone he encountered was a potential friend. The other thing that was very obvious was his love for Kathy, eventually at some point our conversation would circle back to how thankful we each were for having met our better halves and how we would be lost without the love of our wives. I wish I would have met him sooner, he will be missed but also remembered.

My heart was broken after hearing that Roy had passed away. I first met Roy when he and Kathy were dating, maybe 45 yrs ago at his lovely 2 story Spanish style home in Pasadena or near there. My first impression of Roy was that my friend, Kathy, looked very happy and Roy had contributed to that. I was impressed! He was cordial, had a good sense of humor and liked to talk. Not long after that visit I was honored to be a guest at their wedding reception. They made a lovely-looking couple and I could see the love they shared for each other, it was special. They enjoyed each others company and did so much together. Whether it was their love of gardening, athletics, traveling, or just sitting at home relaxing, they were meant to be with each other. When I visited Roy and Kathy at their beautiful house in SLO, Kathy explained that Roy had converted the front portion of the yard for a place where the "cloggers" could practice their dancing. Again I was impressed that he would do that for the clogging dance group. Nice guy, good guy, especially thoughtful husband was he for sure. On a visit to their beautiful home in Templeton I could see the pride he had in his homes, how meticulously he worked to get it just right which either he did himself (he was always busy doing something), or having hired someone to put beams up on the ceiling to add that extra special touch that he might have thought of. Yes, Roy was a specual man, a loving husband father and grandfather. All of the pictures posted says it all. OH, AND SO MUCH OF THAT BEAUTIFUL MANE OF SILVER-WHITE HAIR! Yes, Roy was very impressive after all he made my very good friend, Kathy, happy. Roy is a man I was proud and lucky to have known. Rest in Heavenly Peace Roy and may Our Lord welcome you with his loving arms around you. Kathy, Eric and Family, I am so very sorry for your loss. Gerry Chavez Yniguez

We only knew Roy for a little over a decade, but he was on our very short list of best friends. I don't think he liked watching movies together like we did, but Roy loved to talk politics and about cars. We're concerned, with his absence, the used car market is going to take a hit. Roy will be greatly missed.
