Souvenirs

In loving memory of Ronnie (Veronica) Garner Ronnie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a friend to many. Ronnie loved spending time with family, and particularly enjoyed watching her daughter Lori compete in the Special Olympics (repeat gold medal winner, year after year) and anything to do with family gatherings or grandchildren. Ronnie was also an avid gardener, loved family pets (cats, dogs, horses, even a goat), and ran a legendary family pickle-making operation each summer using a passed down family recipe. In Ronnie's retirement years, she enjoyed lakefront living, family bbq dinners, loving her grandchildren, spending time in Canada with relatives, and going all out with Christmas decorations. In her younger years, Veronica grew on a farm in Medicine Hat Canada and was a very talented softball player. She played short stop for the Medicine Hat Orioles, which in 1953 won the Alberta Championship. Eventually, ‘Ronnie' became nickname that most people called her and she lived most of her life in the United States where she married and raised five children while working. Ronnie was both a smart and hard worker, growing a career in convenience store operations until finally owning and operating her own store, Ronnie's Market, in Burien WA that still bears her name today. Through work Ronnie met the love of her life, Howard Garner who she married in 1976 and spent 44 happy years together. In the 1984, Ronnie was immensely proud to officially be granted US citizenship. She remained deeply patriotic to both the United States and Canada throughout her entire life, as demonstrated to all by the large flagpole outside of her homes flying both the US and Canadian flags. Ronnie remains loved and remembered by many. While her presence will be missed here, it is a comfort to know that she is now resting in peace. ----- Ronnie is survived by husband Howard Garner also her five children Terry, Rick, Lori, Ron, Tracy and their families.

Canada & family forever! You loved keeping in touch with family in Canada and then keeping us all informed back here. It was fantastic that in retirement years you spent summers on a lake in Canada to be near your beloved sister, Rose. I like to think of you now as relaxed as you look in the photo below, sitting on your dock on Lake Shushwap at the end of the day and still surrounded by the love of family.

Remember the year that you got Randy to let the family enjoy his vacation house in Mexico so you could take your grandkids on vacation together? That was epic. You played at the beach with the grandkids, took the to the souvenir market where they bought carved wooden masks, enjoyed lots of family time together at Randy's beautiful home, and got to see a bucket list item for you - Elizabeth Taylors house (you talked about this before, during and after the trip!).
