Ronald Wheeldon

29 de octubre de 1967 - 8 de mayo de 2022
Ronald Eugene “Ron” Wheeldon, was born October 29, 1967, in Landstuhl, Landkreis Kaiserslautern, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany to Donald Glenn and Naomi Ruth (Foster) Wheeldon.
Ron was the middle child of three; his older sister Teresea Renee Wheeldon and younger sister Tanya Louise (Wheeldon) Callahan.
Although Ron was born in Germany and spent a few years there as a small child, Ron’s family came to Texas in 1974.
Ron spent his younger years being a very active child. While living in Fort Hood, Texas during his dad’s military service, Ron was involved in the Boy Scouts of America where his dad was the Scout Master.
Ron and his family moved to Copperas Cove, Texas in 1978, which became the place that he would call home. Here, Ron found his love for playing baseball starting with T-Ball and then Little League Baseball. Ron continued his love for baseball through school where he was in Junior Varsity Baseball in High School. He graduated from Copperas Cove High School in May of 1986.
Ron enjoyed life and spent as much time as he could with family and friends going to the movies, fishing, playing football or baseball, BBQs, and Friday night poker. He and his buddies would have sports pools for their favorite professional games, like football. His favorite sports were football, baseball, basketball, wrestling, sport fighting, MMA, and NASCAR.
Ron was about ten years old when he started mowing yards around the neighborhood just to earn spending money to go to the local corner store and buy his candy and soda. He mowed yards every summer up until he got his driver’s license and then he went to work at Domino’s pizza delivering pizza. Ron also worked for Well Done Cleaning Service doing yard maintenance. Later in life, he worked at Wal-Mart, MCI, and Halco where he became a certified forklift operator.
Ron did not have children of his own, however, he treated his nieces, nephew, great nieces, and great-nephews (five nieces, a nephew, ten great-nieces, and five great-nephews) as if they were his own. He was always there to lend a helping hand, be a friend, a confidant, or just hang out watching TV or playing games on the computer.
Ron was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) in 2010. Ron never let his illness stop him from enjoying life as much as possible. He continued to drive, go to the movies, play his lottery, and spend time with family and friends. Even as his illness progressed, he never lost his wit, he always had a joke or smart comment to make about something. Ron’s long journey came to an end in the early morning hours of May 8, 2022.
Ron had chosen not to have a funeral service as he did not want everyone in tears and crying. So, he decided to be cremated and for his ashes to be spread at his favorite fishing spot at the Lampasas River.
Ron wanted everyone to remember him as he was in life, laughing, joking, and having a good time, therefore, a celebration of life will be on August 27, 2022. More details on this will be provided at a later date.
In lieu of cards and flowers, Ron and the family ask that donations be made in his honor to either the ALS Association or a cancer society of your choice.
