"Throw your burden on Jehovah, And he will sustain you. Never will he allow the righteous one to fall." Psalm 55:22

Ronald L. “Ron” Saunders, 74, fell asleep in death at his home in Pinellas Park, FL on September 20, 2020.  He is survived by his loving wife, Roberta “Bobbi”; daughters, Rosemary Morrison and Angie Newburg both of Pinellas Park, whom he shared with former spouse Sharon Brooks; step-daughter, Rachel Davis of Clearwater and step-son, Daniel “Tyler” Davis of St. Petersburg, whom he shared with deceased spouse Shirley; brother, Stephen (Debbie) of Ardmore, OK; sister, Vanessa (Rex) Huckeby of Edmond, OK; grandchildren, Maddison (Brian) Casey, Drew (Sara) Morrison, Chelsea Newburg, Jenna and Camden Morrison; three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.  Ron was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd; mother, Vergie “Pauline”; and sister, Valerie.

He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on September 22, 1973. Throughout the years he was associated with the North St. Petersburg, Skyview Pinellas Park, Gateway Pinellas Park, and Mountain City, Georgia congregations. At times during the past 47 years he served as both a ministerial servant and elder and enjoyed the privilege of taking trips to preach in unassigned territory.

Ron had a great sense of humor, liked to tell jokes, and was a yo-yo champion in his youth. He loved to travel; had several collections including watches and coins; and he was always an early adopter of the newest technology.

Ron was known for being able to make children behave with just a look; pulling out the loose teeth of all the children in the Kingdom Hall; and calling to check up on the older friends. He was especially generous, always buying items in multiples because he wanted to keep one for himself and give three others to friends or family. Bobbi always says that he made it easy to love him.

As a student of the Bible for over 4 decades Ron enjoyed sharing with others the wonderful hope we have for the future. His strong faith in a resurrection, in a future paradise on earth, under God's government, was a comfort to him. My condolences for the family and friends of Bro. Saunders. I never had a chance to meet him, but it was evident how loved, valued, and impactful he was to those around him. I look forward to having that chance of meeting him in the new world to come. May the God of all comfort and all his promises help the friends and family.

He was the best grandpa a girl could ask for. My pappaw was kind, compassionate, generous, and full of so much love. He had a never-ending supply of jokes (some I may have heard more than once!) and riddles that would stump my sister Maddi and I for hours. I have so many memories of the time we spent together when I was a child — both in Florida and Georgia. We have been separated by thousands of miles for nearly a decade, but I can still hear the sound of his laugh like it was yesterday. I will miss you dearly and never forget the things you taught me, Pappaw. With Love, Chelsea

We are so sorry to hear about Ron's passing away. Although Ron was in his later years as we got to know him he was always generous to us and even assisted us in taking an unassigned territory trip by making his home available up north. We will never forget that trip and the warm generosity that he showed to us. His zeal and love for Jehovah was evident and we are looking forward to welcoming him back in the resurrection soon to come! Made Jehovah comfort you all in this time of sadness!
