13 décembre 1942 - 2 septembre 2021
Robert Camacho, Jr unexpectedly passed away in Tamarac, FL on September 2nd, 2021 at the age of 78. He was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico in 1942 to mother Germina Rodriguez and father Roberto Camacho. He was affectionately known to his family and friends as Bobby. When he was 13, they moved to New York to find better life opportunities. He graduated high school in 1961, took Marketing, Management and Psychology courses in college and also obtained his Real Estate license. In 1980, he relocated to Miami, FL and started a new career path as a Social Worker and Case Manager/Counselor for programs that benefited the underprivileged, as he was very passionate about helping others. Bobby was a devoted father and considered his children and grandchildren to be his greatest accomplishment in life. His family meant everything to him, and he actively kept in touch with his childhood friends. He mostly enjoyed visiting and reminiscing with the people he loved. Some of his hobbies included singing and dancing. He composed songs and professionally recorded some of them, mostly ballads and salsa. In the late 80s and early 90s he performed as ‘Rey Tavares' at nightclubs, local TV shows, music festivals and telethons like La Liga Contra el Cancer. He never accepted payments for his performances and donated all of them to charities and fundraisers. He wanted to stay young forever, so he always enjoyed exercising and eating healthy. He believed that fruit, vegetables, and natural remedies could cure anything. His favorite quote was "Don't get old!". Bobby was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Luis and Albert. He is survived by his sister Dilia; children Sharon, Robert III, Brian and Arrienne; and grandchildren Kristen, Leah, Marlyssa, Josiah, Jazlyn, and Jordan. Anyone wishing to honor Bobby's lifelong commitment to family and community can make donations to his favorite charities St Jude Children's Research Hospital and Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
