Recuerdos

Robert Arthur Wright was born in Independence, Kansas on November 9, 1943 to Lessie Smith and Loyalty Wright. He was the second child born of this union. The first was his sister Frances, now deceased.

His parents moved to Denver when Robert was around 4 years old. He graduated from Manual High School. After graduation, he joined the Army and was stationed in Chicago, IL and Italy. After getting honorably discharged from the Army in 1966, Robert came back to Denver. When he did so, he re-met his future wife, Shirley. They had known each other since childhood because they had attended the same church and high school. After graduating, they went their separate ways, Shirley to college and Robert to the Army. But when they met again by chance, the sparks flew. They dated for 2 years and married on August 25, 1968.

For years, Robert had been searching for Bible Truths and yet no one was truthfully answering his Bible questions. So, Robert started studying the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses. Shirley would do her own research from what she heard him learning, with her intent to refute him. Instead they both found the truth from God's Word, the Bible. Robert and Shirley were baptized together as Jehovah's Witnesses in 1970. Because they followed Bible principles to the best of their ability, they had a happy marriage that lasted for 53 wonderful years.

Their only child, Ryan Michael, was born in 1977. He has been a wonderful and awesome son. Ryan has brought great joy to Robert & Shirley all his life. But the best reason for the joy is because he and his wife, Alisha, are servants of Jehovah.

Robert loved the outdoor life. He and Shirley enjoyed fishing, skiing, biking, hiking, camping, cruising and traveling. Robert's last hobby was, becoming a self-taught bee keeper. Shirley was thrilled, because of his tenacity. His bees gave the best tasting honey. Yes, Jehovah's creations are amazing!

Robert loved Jehovah with his whole heart, soul, mind and strength. Secondly, he loved his wife Shirley and his son Ryan, dearly. He was a very loving husband, father and uncle. Many were affected by his smile, laughter, kindness, generosity, and immense love for Jehovah.

His dear family and friends loved Robert so very, very much. We can't wait to see him in the very near future in Jehovah's New World.

We would like to express our appreciation, and gratitude to all the relatives, friends, neighbors, brothers, and sisters in Jehovah's organization, for their loving kindness and support in this most difficult time. You have reached out in such an abundant way as an expression of your love for our dear Robert, affectionately known as Bob or Bobby. Thank you so very much from Shirley, Ryan and Alisha Wright.

While this is a sad occasion, it is also a hopeful one. We say this because, for those who knew Robert well, knew he had a deep faith in his God, Jehovah. And a strong belief that this life is not all there is. He shared that hope with everyone he could. We know with all our hearts that he would want us to share that hope with all of you today.

Shirley, Ryan, Alisha Wright and Family
