Rick with my son, Sam, and letting himself be tied up by him in some childhood antics. He was always a sport!

Rick and I were classmates at Regiopolis College in Kingston. He gave me a place to stay in Vancouver 1975 and for that I owe him. Those were special times. Suddenly taking off one night for a glorious drive down the coast to Big Sur. Or up the highway to Prince George - we could see the Northland opening up before us. He had a dog he named after his car, Honda - and no pets were allowed in the hotel. We fixed a swing and brought him in through the second floor window. An important member of our circle was John Samson, known as Sam. I lost touch with them, more my fault. It was a period it seems when friends could be casually disrespectful of each other, but Rick was never like that. He was sincere. And I honour him. - Mazatlan, Mexico? Well then: Vaya con Dios, old buddy.

Rick was a friend and neighbour who we had many good kid times with going to the park or playing in the yards. He always had a fond memory, funny story or just a hello to share. We will miss seeing you walk around James Street, and at the coffee shop, Rick. I am sure your walk now is on a warm sunny beach somewhere - take care. The Pratts

Reading all the lovely messages, I would be remiss to not share. Rick's family and ours grew up together in Amherstview. Rick and my older brothers were fast friends. So many boys in their family and mine all very close in age, so Rick became one of the fixtures in our house...another brother. He was always so kind to me 'the little sister' and treated me as if I was in fact his sister, from teasing me about my GoGo boots to having a heart to heart. Rick was planning with one of my brothers to visit and stay a while this summer. Sadly, this is not to be. All his friends, new and old, will miss him. R.I.P. Rick. Always in our hearts and memories.
