Otuwose Emmanuel Agyeno

You were and still is a father to us in the Agyeno's family. Daddy Gbija, you were there in our times of need and later became my friend and confidant. You stood by me and offered practical guidance when my immediate family was recently subjected to a satanic attack from the pit of hell. You took me by the hand and introduced me to persons within the judiciary in Plateau state who could assist and counsel me. I drove you to places but I least expected that the last time I dropped you at the Solat hospital you will not come back home to mummy, your cherry, and us. I remembered how cheerful you were at the hospital not knowing that death was lurking around the corner. Being a man of few words, one thing I hold to heart about you is to always be conscious of my choice of words during conversations! And many more. Your friendship with my biological father has indeed been a blessing to us. My daddy, friend and mentor, rest on until we meet again Sir.

I’m so grateful for the years we had together..I will definitely cherish those moments. Your humility, kindness, generosity and fatherly love shown to me was obvious. You were such a blessing and a good father to me after I lost my dad in 2011. I feel eternally grateful and privileged to have been your daughter-in- law. I will hold all the memories of you close to my heart, how you would tease me about certain things. Your fatherly advice to me and all. I will surely miss you. Daddy, I guess God wanted you home with Him, that was why He had to take you on that fateful morning . It never occurred to me when we spoke few days before your passing that it would be the last. Thank you sir for all you were to me. The memories of the righteous is blessed. Goodnight sir . Till we meet on the resurrection morning

Chief Ruben Ayo Gbijah ( Mantize), our path crossed at Baptist High School Jos and have been pals since then. Who ever thought you would leave at the time you did? You worked hard and achieved much, you impacted lives in your own subtle way. You, Kola Hamed, Obasoro and myself formed a drama group to entertain other students during month end get together. You were the the brain behind it. You provided leadership to BHS Old Boys Association when it was out of breath using your time and resources. We surely will miss your. May the good Lord be with and sustain your family and loved ones. Adiue, my friend.

Oh Granpa!! I can’t believe I am writing this. Even though I know you are in heaven, I wish you stayed a little longer. Thank you for being a great grandfather to me and my little brother. Thank you for teaching me, for correcting me. I was looking forward to tell you about my grades in school, how greatly I have improved, but I guess that will not happen. You had always been concerned about my academics, telling me how important education is and to always strive to be the best and make my parents proud. I promise to make them proud. I promise to make you proud too. I will really miss you granpa. You were the best grandpa ever! We love you endlessly but God loves you more. I wish you didn’t leave so soon. Keep resting with Jesus till we meet to part no more

I saw a post of someone’s tribute to grandpa saying ‘ I’m sure he’s in heaven singing with the choir’ it reminded me of one of the earliest memories I have of him as a little kid going to jos for holidays and during devotion he would always sing ‘Almighty God, our generation shall praise your name’ with the Raspy Bass voice that commanded great power and control of where ever we used for devotion or that thing he always did with he’s legs crossed or the way you loved me and my sister so well that we thought you were our dad…A lot of good principles and morals that you taught us will continue to live with us The comforting thing is I know we will meet again to part no more at the feet of our lord Jesus Christ… The loss is immeasurable, but so is the love left behind. Grandpa, in God’s arms, you can gently rest. Amen

TRIBUTE TO CHIEF R.A GBIJAH. My very first perception of you when you assumed the role of my guardian in Jos 30 years ago was that of a strict disciplinarian. I was soon to find out that was just one of your numerous qualities that made you peculiar and exemplary. Of course, the story of my life and family would be incomplete without a mention of the fatherly role you subsequently assumed from my admission into the university, to the planning and eventual wedding to my wife, the 3 years spent in Industrial and General Insurance Plc under your leadership, to mention but a few. Little wonder I am still in rude shock and trying to come to terms that you have departed to be with your maker. Daddy, my family and I will sorely miss your mentoring, advice and beautiful sense of humour which you had till your passing moment. One legacy that I however cherish and have taken from you is "never to lay a precedence one cannot continue". Your baritone voice each time you render your most cherished song "let there be love shared amongst us" will forever linger in my memory. Adieu daddy Gbijah.
