Souvenirs

Peter Kosa was a loving son, husband, father, and grandfather. Peter was the third of Charles and Hedvig Kosa's four children, predeceased by his older brothers, Consty and Charlie. He is survived by his mother and his younger sister Hedy (Bebs). Peter met his wife of 48 years, Mary Anne O'Hara, in 1970 during the De La Salle school production of South Pacific. Together they raised three wonderful children, Sean (Ashley), Pete (Melissa) and Heather (Magnus). He was blessed with a grandchild, Wyatt, who brought him great joy and laughter.

Peter worked for many years at Pathex, the family business. He was a man with many interests and passions, and an avid sailor. In 1985 he bought a sailboat in England and took his family on an exciting year-long cruise in the Mediterranean.

In 1998, when the kids were older, Peter and Mary Anne moved to the Cayman Islands. There Peter reignited his passion for theatre, becoming very involved in acting and directing at the Cayman Drama Society and the Cayman National Theatre.

He enjoyed nothing more than venturing out on the open water and feeling the wind at his back. In 2005, after a hurricane hit Cayman, he and his ‘bride’ went off on an amazing two-year adventure, circumnavigating the Caribbean in the classic wooden boat they refurbished.

Peter was a kind and generous man who always put others before himself. He was also known for his great sense of humor and could always make those around him laugh and feel comfortable.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones. Rest in peace, Peter. You will always be remembered and so missed.

I. Know this is well after Peters passing but wee were the best of friends at Del La Salle Camp during the mid to late 60s. We both heavy set, longingish blonde hair and living life to sail boats was great, so so great. It is so sad as I joined the Camp Facebook site to find so little information about the Kosa’s who in my mind were such a huge part of the camp. My life business involved learning to research and sadly have learned of the passing of Consti, Charlie and Peter and find myself regretting not searching and finding then much much earlier, but time is our enemy and I find myself looking for past Thanks only to the internet and social media this can be made possible in this day and age. To Mrs. Kosa Sr. and Hedy my belated condolences, You won’t remember but I met you both at the camp at least once or twice over the years. to Peters wife, I only wish we had the opportunity to meet as we grew up. In all our years at Camp he was at OLPH and I was at St. Gabriel’s and never knew it. What a shame, time is our enemy for sure. I only wish I had camp photos???

So sorry to hear of Peter's passing over to the heavenly kingdom, albeit with this late entry. Mary Anne, I'm sure he was greeted by a cohort of fellow OLPH'ers, including my treasured wife Joanne, who passed in 2014. Excuse me for the tardiness. I've moved out of Toronto (currently) and had lost touch with the Moore Park/Rosedale/OLPH community. Blessings on your and your children.

Mary Anne, I'm so sorry to hear of Peter's passing, taken way too soon. I met you and Peter in Cayman when I was working with Peter S and we shared rooming and more than a few meals together. I remember Peter as a gentle giant with an irreverent sense of humour. One day in particular the 2 Peters and I were driving to the office and he made comments about the cruise ship passengers in Georgetown. As you can imagine, they weren't the kindest comments. I swear, we almost ran off the road, we were all laughing so hard. With great memories like this, he will be a part of our lives forever.

Dear Mary Anne, Was doing a search to share gratitude for your support during my time at Del as it transitioned into a private school. You were a treasured colleague. Came across Peter' obituary. My sincerest condolences to you and the family. Saw the photo and immediately felt the warmth and hospitality that you both offered me. Sending blessings to all of you. Deidre Pereira.

Remember Peter well from back in the 60's when he lived on Vernham Court and a bunch of used to race around the circular road on our bikes at the top of the street. What simple and innocent times those days were compared to today. If only we could go back to then no matter how briefly and relive those experiences. Saddened to hear of his passing.

I only met you once Pete…. We got along like thieves. Your entire family left while you continued to tell me dirty jokes. Your children are lucky to have just a touch of your magic! God Bless and rest Pete Kosa
