Pete Shurts

On Wednesday, April 20, the world lost one of the brightest souls and best humans I have ever met. Pete was the definition of friendship, community, and servanthood, along with his beautiful wife, Mimi. Pete would light up any room, join every conversation, monopolize the karaoke machine, talk sports to anyone and everyone, and would be the first person to offer to help with anything, anytime. When you walked away from him, he would give you the best hug, and you felt like his best friend. Our world won’t be the same without him. Pete unexpectedly passed away due to a shocking brain tumor that took everyone in his life, including himself, by complete shock and left us all with an unexplainable amount of grief. Pete had many incredible accomplishments in his life, his family, his friends, and his career. He will be forever missed. Hug the people you love tight, be kind to others, give cheers to a stranger, and brighten our world with your smile, just like Pete did. Oh, and next time you have the opportunity, belt out that karaoke song with all your energy and live your life to the fullest.
