OBITUARY

Patricia Elaine Chatham Barron Perry

On Christmas morning, 2022 Patricia Perry passed away peacefully at her home in Sandy Springs, with family at her side.

She was born at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Peggy Dean and Raymond Aubrey Chatham.  Known fondly as Trisha, she was the oldest of five siblings and spent her life as a sister encouraging, praising and teaching all of her sisters and brother in a loving way.

She married her Stetson University sweetheart, William Franklin Barron, III of Rome, GA,  after a courtship that included long love letters, gifts, and sweet handwritten poetry. The young couple settled in Rome, Georgia, where they raised their two daughters, Mary Sue and Emily. Trisha epitomized a life of service and giving back to the community and she was very passionate about her volunteer work with the Seven Hills Garden Club, and  the Junior Service League of Rome.

Always the joyful hostess, her elegant demeanor, amplified by her sweet spirit, naturally attracted others to her and the young family’s home was often filled with friends from the couple’s Supper Club, and The 9 O’Clock Cotillion Club.

Her knowledge of lighting and her talent for design was a valuable asset to the community, and she was happily honored to be involved with many projects for the Rome Community including opening her business, Oak Hill Lighting, which later expanded to nearby Cartersville, GA.  After spending years as a small business owner, she sold her business, and turned her passion into a career and became a Premier Travel Advisor at Rome’s Magical Travel, and later in Atlanta, serving her clients from American Express Travel and Luxury Virtuoso Travel.

She journeyed to many beautiful places, and enjoyed wonderful adventures. Ever the Francophile, she spent a summer with her daughters in Paris while taking classes at The Sorbonne, and later to Florence where she studied architecture and design.  She continued her education and earned a second undergraduate degree at Berry College.

Of all the places she had traveled and experienced, her fondest memories are of walking the sands of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. She adored her two daughters and her happiest memories are of lazy family days at their beach home which enriched and filled her soul.

Trisha’s second marriage, to William Atterbury Perry, precipitated her move to Atlanta from Rome.  In Atlanta, she and William enjoyed walks in Cochran Mill Park, and evenings in the garden listening to Williams extensive music collection.  Trisha’s  Book Club friends became the focus of her social activities, along with the couple’s membership to The Atlanta Botanical Gardens.

She is survived by her husband William Atterbury Perry; her  two daughters MarySue Barron Findlater (Charles Ramsey Findlater, III), and Emily Alexandra Barron; Grandson, Franklin Barron Findlater, and her  four siblings, Jennifer Chatham Wilcoxon, Mary Chatham Clegg (David), John Raymond Chatham (Kimberly) and Martha Chatham Wakelin (James), along with many adoring nieces and nephews.

Please join the family for A Celebration of Life on Sunday, January 22, 2023 from 1:00pm - 3:00pm at the Brookfield Country Club, 100 Willow Run Road, Roswell, GA 30075.

The family kindly requests that In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Patricia’s honor to her garden club:  Seven Hills Garden Club, ℅ Mrs. Manning, 93 Featherston Court, Rome, GA, 30165.
