It was very shocking for me to hear the sudden demise of Dr Nilachal Sahu on 11 May 2021. My family could not believe that Dr N Sahu would leave us so soon. I was closely associated with him during my service at DISIR from 1989 to 2003 then 2016 to 2017 when I was in OCL. He was a renowned refractory technologist and had vast knowledge regarding research work on ceramic, refractory and cement. He was always concerned to use waste into wealth. He helped me a lot during my Ph.D work at DISIR. He was a very simple, approachable person and greeted people with positive gesture irrespective of his levels. We pray to God to keep his noble soul rest in peace and to give solace to his entire family.

I knew Late Dr Nilachal Sahu from his DISIR days while I was working as a Lecturer in Dalmia College, Rajgangpur. I was deeply impressed by his depth of knowledge not only in his own field but also about everything around him especially related to environment. He shared with me about his humble beginning and struggle during his student days as to how he burrowed book from Shakti Book Store Sambalpur and read under street lights. He rose from such a beginning and made a niche for himself which is quite unmatched . The herbal garded which was created by him with assistance from his knowledgeable wife, Dr. Sarojini is a testimony of his concern for the environment. I visited the place several times with my students and was highly impressed. A soft spoken man and devoid of any kind of ego made him a very sweet person. I shall miss him as a brother, a friend and as an associate in research works.

Dr N Sahoo, one of legend in refractory field was attached with me since the beginning of my career in this industry. His great humanity and diversified knowledge bring me good position at present. In course of ocl Dalmia life, he always guided towards a positive way. I pray God the great soul rest in peace forever

My heartfelt tributes to Dr. Nilachala Sahoo sir. I was deeply shocked, when I got the news of the eternal demise of Dr . Sahoo sir . It is a great loss for all of us. He was really a true mentor,humble and fully dedicated person. He was having a vast knowledge in every field and the greatest thing about our beloved sir was his willingness to share his vast knowledge with others without any hesitation. I particularly remember,Dr. Nilachala Sahoo sir dates back to 2015, when he graced the padestal of our G.E.L Church High School Rajgangpur as the chief guest for the Block and Municipality Level Science Exhibition.He was interacted with a participant named Bikash Sharma,exhibiting SOLAR TREE as a project under my guidance for more than 5 minutes and again with me for another 5 minutes. On the eve of closing ceremony of that exhibition beyond to my expectation,he declared SOLAR TREE as the best project of the exhibition and awarded Bikash with a special award . I felt honoured when he appreciated my efforts in preparing the exhibit. On that day I came to know that he was such a great personality to highlight and extract the intellectual talent of a student just within 5 minutes. My last meeting with Dr. Nilachala Sahoo was on 26th January 2020, the eve of The Republic Day, in the campus of G.E.L Church Educational Institutions when he graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and I was anchoring the whole programme. He is no more with us and the vacant space created by his eternal departure can never be filled up. Still, he is and will be forever in our hearts.

Heartly tribute to Dr Nilachala Sahoo Sir. It was really shocking when I came to know that Sir is no more with us in this material world. I learned many things from him. He was inspiration for all of us. He was very humble and dedicated person. He guided me always. I am blessed that I get a chance to work under his guidance.He will always be in our heart.
