Nancy Meredith Rattle
2 de marzo de 1951 - 11 de mayo de 2023
2 de marzo de 1951 - 11 de mayo de 2023
Nancy Meredith Rattle (née Pearson) passed peacefully with her children by her side on May 11th, 2023.
Born in Guelph, Ontario, on March 2nd, 1951 to Toby and Ed (both predeceased), Nancy is survived by her children Coburn (Mark) and Mark (Shawn), and grandchildren Lachlan, Cohen and Tallulah, as well as her sister Janet (Glenn) and brother Jonathan.
After graduating from nursing school from the Ottawa Civic Hospital in 1972, Nancy spent most of her career at the Great War Memorial Hospital in Perth, Ontario. During the final 20+ years, you could find Nancy as a staple in the Emergency Room, where patients always knew that if they got her as their nurse, they could be sure they were going to be well taken care of!
During her career, Nancy not only worked tirelessly as an advocate for her patients, but also as a strong voice for her nursing colleagues and the nursing profession in her roles with the Ontario Nurses Association as a member and President of the local chapter.
Stemming from her years as a palliative care nurse, Nancy was a fervent advocate for end-of-life care and dying with dignity. Over the years, she supported many friends and community members through their end-of-life process in their homes.
Always a lifelong seeker, Nancy’s interests were broad. She was an avid gardener, a beekeeper, a poet, a jewellery maker, a rock and gem collector, a music enthusiast, a traveller, an art lover, an environmentalist, and a concerned global citizen. And of course, we would be remiss if we didn’t talk about her talents in the kitchen; quite simply, food was Nancy’s love language. She took great pleasure and pride in feeding her friends and family with her culinary creations – sometimes elaborate and exotic and other times simple and comforting, but always delicious and made with love (and lots of butter!).
Nancy was a dedicated supporter of many local causes as well as other broader health and wildlife organisations. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Lanark County Grannies (https://grandmotherscampaign.org/findagroup/lanark-county-grannies/), Operation Smile (https://www.operationsmile.org/), or the Perth Emergency Department of the Perth & Smiths Falls District Hospital (https://psfdh.on.ca/foundations) in her name.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Nancy is a force of nature we will not soon forget. As a nurse, she felt her calling strongly and shared her skills with huge generosity. As a patron of the arts, she travelled to concerts, attended art shows, and encouraged artists and musicians with her enthusiasm and purchases. It seemed she gave so much more than she received, all with an enviable determination and vision. She was a poet. A loyal friend. A beauty carrying pain like a warrior. Rest in peace, Nancy.

These tributes speak volumes to the respect and love people have for Nancy. What you saw was what you got. Always true to herself. She was the gutsiest person I know; brave in life and in death. An example to us all. Heartfelt condolences to Coburn and Mark. Love you Nanc. Lynda and Mark xo

I was deeply saddened to hear about my loved step-sister Nancy. I have many fond memories of our times together...and I will always be grateful for the help she offered me, when dealing with the final days of my dad, whom she also loved dearly. My sincere best wishes, and love, to Coburn and Mark and their families, as well as to Janet, Glenn and Long John. Derek Bumstead
