Michael Sean Clark, also known as Big Papa, passed away on November 10, 2019, at the age of 53.
Michael was born on January 20, 1966 at Rome Memorial Hospital in Rome, New York to Annie and the late Rocco Clark. He grew up with his sister Roxanne and brother David on Podunk Road. Yes, there really is a Podunk Road.
He earned his Bachelor’s degree in mathematics at Rochester Institute of Technology. A lean cross-country runner in high school, when he reached college, Michael transformed into a body builder and gym junkie and achieved a physic to be envied - with less than 1% body fat, or so he said.
Later Michael moved to Atlanta, Georgia, with his company, where he met the love of his life and future wife, Brenda Bachechi. They moved to the Bay Area and began a new life in the “Golden State.” Michael built a career in sales and business development where he was respected and will be dearly missed.
Michael never missed a day at the gym and could be found on the golf course most Sunday mornings and in his free time. He loved gourmet ice cream and lemon bars and bought in bulk if it meant a good discount.
Michael delighted in coaching both of his children and their many friends. He coached Ashlyn to make sure she got some time in the game and to teach Jojo how to be “a team player.”
Michael enjoyed many travel adventures with his family - where he was seen in sweatpants and sneakers on the beach, biking around Bali and, of course, golfing. He dined on cheeseburgers across the globe and never tired of the roller coasters in Disney World.
Michael was a good listener, a little stubborn, loyal, kind, proud, and ever so sarcastic. His family will miss his daily humor, baked ziti and coconut chicken, and his “bad” but humorous weekly selfies. His friends will remember him as a beautiful, strong and honorable soul and count themselves blessed and lucky to have had him as a part of their lives.
He is survived by his wife Brenda, daughter Ashlyn, son Jordan and his favorite doggies Nike and Rocky. He is also survived by his mother, Ms. Annie Clark, his little sister Roxanne McKenzie and his big Brother, David Clark. He also leaves behind to cherish his legacy and fond memories a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Thinking of you, Michael. I am so thankful for the memories.

Coach Clark was so special to the Carey boys- including Joe. Michael taught Joe everything he knows about the game of soccer. So grateful Michael was in our life.

With the Thanksgiving holiday approaching it seems appropriate to be thankful for Michael. He gave my family the gift of his time, his smile, patience, sarcasm ...and most of all he made every one of us feel special in our own way. I wish that we had had many more memories, but we will be thankful for what we had and our family will always remember Michael with a smile.
