Souvenirs

Loved beyond measure.

A man of immense warmth, Matthew brought laughter and peace wherever he went. Devoted to his family as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, his deep faith inspired his kindness and compassion. He freely gave his time and wisdom, always seeing the best in others. With a great sense of humor, he could lighten any mood, and his gentle nature made him a natural peacemaker.

Bisi Owojori

I sincerely don't know what to say. Uncle Matthew was a school mate of my brother, Duro Owojori and a school prefect to another brother, Michael Akinrefon both brothers, deceased. Everything I know about uncle Matthew Adekemi was from those brothers, and finally when I met uncle Matthew, I was thrilled to meet him, and he too was very happy to meet me as a junior brother to both names mentioned. Since I met him, he's been a very great uncle, calling me every time and asking how I'm doing and family. He's always fond of me asking me to come to his house so that we could play some games; especially draft. Uncle was so smart about this game. If we played say five times, if I was able to have a draw on one of the five times, to me, I won that one. He was always asking when he called, "Bisi igbawo lo ma wa sodo mi ka wa ta draft?" He and his wife came to my house this February 2024 to congratulate me for joining the "Club." I honestly didn't open a card he bought for my birthday until I saw what he wrote in the card, "Welcome to 7th floor." As a third President of the defunct Club, Zest Club Of Tampa Bay, he represented and showed a great and smart leader and President. Finally, I pray to God Almighty to be with the family members left behind especially, his courageous wife, Mrs. Rike Adekemi, children, grandchildren, his sister. at home and everyone of us that deeply love him. Thank you, Owojori.

Daddie words fail me to me to bid you goodbye at this time. But who are we to query the authority of the most high. You were exceptional. You made sure you touched the lives of everyone around you. You have left behind a vacuum that can't be filled. Sleep on daddy. We all love you even in death. Take your rest and may the Lord lights your paths as you sojourn. Yèyé Abiri Àkànké Olusola

Quel est votre plus beau souvenir partagé avec Matthew?

Words are difficult to express the loss and void your passing has brought. In 2011, during my first visit to what was then First Baptist Church of Temple Terrace (Mission Hill) you were the first to greet me and make me feel welcomed. Had it not been for that encounter, I don’t know if I would have come the following week. There wasn’t a moment that you saw me after and that you didn’t call me your “sister” and continuously checked on me and my family. When going to Wednesday services, I was always happy when your sat in front of me because when there were difficult days, your smile lightened the load. Your kindness was beyond what anyone could ask for and I will always keep your memories in my heart. We thank the Lord for bringing you, my brother, to this world and the impact that you had on countless lives.

Prince Abiri Olaolu

My Dear uncle like a brother whose influence and support have been an integral part of my life's journey. Uncle Ajibola was my mother younger brother. He was more than just a family member; he was a mentor, a guide, and a friend. From a young age, he saw potential in me that I often doubted in myself. His unwavering belief in my abilities gave me the courage to pursue my dreams and the strength to overcome obstacles. Uncle Ajibola was always there with wise advice, a listening ear, and a kind word of encouragement. He had an extraordinary ability to lift your spirits and inspire you to be the best version of yourself. His generosity knew no bounds. He gave his time, his wisdom, and his love without ever asking for anything in return. He taught me the value of hard work, the importance of integrity, and the power of kindness. His legacy lives on in the lives of everyone he touched. As I stand here today, I am filled with gratitude for the countless ways Uncle Ajibola contributed to my success. His belief in me was a gift that I will carry with me forever. While his physical presence will be deeply missed, his spirit and the lessons he imparted will continue to guide me. Uncle Ajibola thank you for everything. Your impact on my life is immeasurable, and your memory will always be a source of inspiration and strength. The entire Adekemi family of Ile - Ife will definitely miss you. Rest in peace, knowing that your legacy lives on in the hearts of those you loved and supported. It is with deep sense of loss and shock when I heard of the transition of Daddy Matthew Adekemi but with gratitude to God Almighty for a life well spent. He is such a gentle, humble, loving and warm person. You touched the lives of people that came across your way. You loved God. I fondly called him “daddy” and likewise he called me “mummy”. We met when we became in laws but we related together in love which gladdens my heart. We related together like we were brother and sister. The moments we shared together are greatly cherished. It is well indeed! Nothing loved is ever lost. To live in the hearts of those we love is not to die. May God comfort all the family in particular his loving Children and his Brother and Sister. May God give us all the fortitude to bear the loss. May your gentle soul rest in perfect peace. Enitan Famewo, mrs
