Marion Patricia Mason, 78, passed away on December 30, 2022, from complications of multiple myeloma. She spent her final days with her loving family by her side and was sustained by messages of support from her vast network of family and friends. She showed the same unending strength and grace during this difficult time as she did throughout her life.
Born to Marion (Mona) and John (Jack) Parker in Vancouver, B.C., she moved to Seattle with her family in 1952. She graduated from Highline High School and lived most of her life in the Burien community, where she raised her children, Ian and Kristi.
Marion flourished in her 32-year career at Bank of America. Her work ethic was unmatched as she rose from a teller to a Senior Vice President. She was adored by her clients, whom she treated like family.
Marion’s kindness and generosity were evident from the moment you met her, and she devoted herself to serving others. She was an involved and supportive mother in every way. Her ability to work full-time and manage a household flawlessly was truly superhuman. She was also a warm and dedicated caretaker to her elderly parents and in-laws.
In retirement, Marion delighted in spending time with her grandchildren. She encouraged them in all their pursuits and was a positive and involved presence in their lives. They will cherish their memories of her and the traditions she created.
She was always busy with gardening, book club, reunion planning, and meals with friends and family. She underwent a successful kidney transplant in 2021 allowing her to continue her active lifestyle.
Marion was preceded in death by her husband Ron and parents Jack and Mona. She is survived by her son Ian and his daughter Mia; her daughter Kristi (Jay) and their children Cate and Parker; her brothers John (Renée), Donald (Donna), and David (Lolly), and her beloved nieces and nephews.
She truly embodied goodness and gratitude throughout her life. She will be missed every single day.

I first met Marion when my parents needed financial help in their older age and I got involved with their affairs. She was so kind to my Mom. Marion first started helping Mom years ago. I remember my Mom telling me what a wonderful banker she met that didn't "talk down" to her. Marion help Mom with buying savings bonds and getting her and my Dad involved with John Volstead for other investments. she was paitent with my Mom and made her feel important. My Mom loved Marion. She would wait at the Bank in Burien until Marion was available eventhough others could help. She treated my Mom and Dad like they were the biggest depositors at the bank. Even when Marion was branch manager, she personally took care of Mom. When I met her, I could tell she was special. All three of us went into the bank, Marion greeted us and with a big smile and hug for my Mom and Dad. We sat down, she explained in detail, and repeatedly on some things to help them understand, exactly what my Mom and Dad were setting up. She changed her communcation style when talking to Mom or Dad in such a way that they each clearly understood her. She was so patient and thorough it was impressive. When walking us out the door, so many customers said hello to her, and she addressed everyone of them by name. She as a jewel.

Marion and I met when we attended Sunset Jr. High together our 8th grade year. We were on the first team of Song Staff Cheerleaders together. For the past many years, we have been members of the Highline Class of '62 Reunion Committee. Our last 60-year Reunion was on September 16, 2022, at the Normandy Park Cove. We were so blessed that Marion was healthy and able to enjoy that marvelous Reunion with all of her attending Classmates. She was loved by all who knew her, and I am so grateful that she was my Beloved and Cherished Friend.

I was fortunate to know Marion from Sunnydale, through high school, and saw her last at our 60th. She was always a class act. Gracious, friendly, and a great sense of humor. It was always fun when she was around. I will not be able to attend the remembrance event as my mother is celebrating her 100 th birthday that day .

My husband and I first met Marion when, after moving into our home on the other side of our shared fence, we heard the happy voices of her grandchildren enjoying her beautiful back yard. We knew immediately how fortunate we were to live close to such a warm and welcoming person. We will so miss her bright smile and happy personality and will fondly remember our many conversations and the laughs we shared. Blessings to Marion's entire family and circle of friends - we are so fortunate to have had her in our lives!
