Lura Mccaslin

Lura B. McCaslin, 86, of Tyler, Texas, passed from this life in the early hours of June 8, 2018 at Briarcliff Health Center. Lura was born January 8, 1932 to James M. and Ida Watson Blassingame in Clarksville, Texas. She was the last of seven children. After graduating from high school in Whitesboro, Texas, she headed to Oklahoma to live with her older brother Woody and his wife. There she met Ronald McCaslin, whom she married on July 14, 1951 in Oklahoma City. Ron preceded her in death in 2003. Lura was a committed Christian who loved to read and sew. During her lifetime, she was a homemaker, beautician, real estate agent, and homeschool teacher to her youngest daughter, Sara. She will be deeply missed by those she left behind. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ronald McCaslin, and two of her children, Robert McCaslin and Dona Kerby, as well as her five brothers (Amos, Woody, Tom, David, and Willie Lee Blassingame) and her sister, Loree Klas Yarbrough. She is survived by her daughter, Sara McCaslin, and grandchildren, Melissa McCaslin and Rob McCaslin, along with great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements have not yet been determined. She will be laid to rest at Cathedral in the Pines in Tyler, Texas.
