Louis' Step-Child
Louis H. Baumann
1951 - 2026
1951 - 2026
Loved God and family, served his church and others, and lived a life of unwavering faithful kindness.
Louis Baumann, 75, passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 18, 2026, after a long and courageous fight with cancer. He was born in Astoria, Queens, New York, to Louis and Loretta Baumann.
Louis joined the Marines in 1971 and served proudly in aviation fire and rescue, receiving an honorable discharge. He retired from Standard Motors in Astoria in 2004. He later returned to full-time employment and retired again in 2015 from Remington Medical.
Louis was married to Marion “Bubbles” Baumann in 1972, and they lived in Astoria. After Marion’s passing in 2003, he then moved to Georgia, where he met Leta and married her in 2004. Louis lived in Georgia with his wife, Leta, for 22 years, where they were happily married, putting God first in their marriage and remaining active in church. He spent the last 10 years traveling, enjoying many trips to the beach, cruises, and international vacations with family. He also spent many hours serving at his church and with Narcotics Anonymous.
After struggling with addiction for many years, and knowing that the Lord had a better plan for his life, Louis took brave steps in 2000 toward a life of sobriety, which he maintained for the remainder of his life—26 years. Throughout his journey to sobriety, Louis was an inspiration and mentor to many. His relationship with God was his main source of strength.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Loretta Baumann and his first wife, Marion “Bubbles” Baumann. He is survived by his wife, Leta; his sister, Lorraine of Virginia Beach, Virginia; his children, Jacqueline of Astoria, New York, and Louis A. of Ivey, Georgia; his stepchildren, Angela and Nancy; his grandchildren of Astoria, NY, William, Mark, and Katelynn (“Cat”); his grandchildren, Alexander and Loretta; and his grandchildren, Aiden, Jordan, Zachary, and Liam; as well as many great-grandchildren and other beloved family members.
Family and friends will be notified of funeral arrangements.
