**Obituary for Loretta Joyce Barents (Griffiths), born on March 4, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan, peacefully passed away at her home on July 3, 2024. Loretta was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose life's journey deeply enriched those around her. She was born to the loving parents Melvin and Evelyn Shollenberger. She is survived by her sister Alice Avery (Charles) of Grayling, Michigan. Loretta's life was marked by enduring love and precious memories made with her family. She was preceded in death by her first husband James, grandson Jackie, brother Lee, sister Priscilla and her son, John Griffiths. Loretta's family was the center of her world. She was the devoted mother to six children: Dawn Edwards (Jack), James Griffiths, Kimberly Rosenogle (Jerome), John Griffiths (deceased), Ronnie Griffiths, and Michael Griffiths. Her legacy continues through her 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Grandma" and "Nana." She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends. Her professional life was dedicated to the Dietary Department at Hilton Convalescent Home, where she worked with unwavering commitment until her retirement in 2020. Her dedication to her work was a testament to her character and her nurturing spirit. Loretta's final resting place will be at Oakview Cemetery in Royal Oak, Michigan, where a graveside prayer ceremony will be held on a date to be determined. In this time of mourning, we pause to celebrate Loretta's life—a life filled with love, dedication, and warmth. She will forever be remembered in the hearts of her family and friends, who were blessed to know her and share in her journey.
