Lorain Hewitt

Lorain Joan Hewitt passed away on September 13, 2021 in the city of Palm Springs, Ca. She was born March 28, 1956 to Roger and Inez Sainz in New York. Lorain was an infectious spirit. Her laugh was contagious and you could never be sad in her presence. She was a light that brightened any room she walked into. She was self-less, always giving to others and helping where she could. She was a jokester, always trying to find ways to get the laugh. She was intelligent, wise beyond her years. She was perfectly imperfect in every way. She married John Scott Hewitt on August 15, 1981. She adored their 40 years together. Through every turn and twist, she loved her husband with every ounce of her being. She was the best mom to her two surviving children, Kara Beatty and Wes Hewitt. She would give anything and everything to them. She treated and treasured her son-in-law, Jerron Beatty, and daughter-in-law Danielle Hewitt like one of her own. She loved her grandbabies Javion Beatty, Jayce Beatty, Jonah Beatty, Mary Jane Hewitt and Laurel Hewitt fiercely and beamed with pride when talking about them. She loved her siblings Robert Sainz, Andrew Sainz, Claudia Gutierrez, and Lydia McGrath very much. She will live within them as they share in her wit and joyous spirit. She was an elementary school teacher for Palm Springs Unified School District for 28 years. She loved teaching. It was her passion and joy to not only serve her community but to touch so many children's lives. She loved working at Vista del Monte in Palm Springs, where her family only grew in numbers. The friendship's and memories she had formed through Vista del Monte made her so happy. So happy that even after her retirement, she returned numerous times to substitute teach just to be around her friends and children again.
