My moms favorite thing in life was being a Mom and Nana. She would always call me her best friend. And she worked hard to give my sister and I everything she didn't have. She was the best soccer mom, adopting my friends everywhere she went. I can still hear her yelling "run, Tara". Oh how I hated that, and how I laugh about it now. She would do the same thing at Tavo's games. I have the best memories of her and Dean raising us. All of the Sunday breakfasts at cracker barrel and dennys. All of the trips to Galveston. They loved their spot at the San Luis and being together as a family. When Dean died, Lisa's heart broke. And she moved in with me so I could care for her and try to heal her broken heart. She loved every second of being a Nana. Those little boys hard her wrapped around their little fingers. Little Luca looks so much like her. With his beautiful blond hair and brown eyes. It was just me, her and Tori the last few years, and we wouldn't change that for anything. I will forever treasure those last few years together. And I wouldn't change our time together. I find comfort in knowing she died at peace, happy and in a good place. She was looking forward to a trip to visit us soon and couldn't wait to see her grand babies again. Now they have the best guardian Angel possible. Do something sweet for a young person in your life in her memory. Because if she was still here, I know her first priority would be getting back to her grand babies and having more time with them.

Mrs. Lisa was loved beyond measure! She hired me as young a very young 20 something. She was there when I got married and was there when I had both my babies; who are now almost 17 and 14. She affectionately gave them both nicknames, "Tadpole" and "Ladybug"…. And to this day, every time we would communicate, that is how she referred to them. Mrs. Lisa; they will always be your tadpole and ladybug! You will be deeply missed, but I know you're back in Deano's arms without pain.

My sister, my 1st friend & my 1st foe, but forever the one I looked up to. In my 57 yrs, no one knew our bond like we did. We agreed, disagreed, laughter, cried, hugged & hunkered down all when necessary. Nana was an incredible Aunt to Dave, Kandi & Tim, a wonderful daughter to our mom, Helen, & a worthy human to me, her sister. We had ups & downs and sometimes sideways, but when it came down to the wire I had her back & she had mine. Nana struggled so much when the love of her life tragically passed away, but she reached out to me & I rushed to her. Her grief was too great for anyone to help & she never truly recovered. She adored her daughters, Tara & Tori. But then came the grandbabies & she was over the moon. Oh how I wish that could have saved her. Nana will be forever remembered by many, but for me, I'll remember everything from childhood til now. Having talked to her just 1 day before she passed, I'm happy to say she sounded amazing, happy, hopeful and at peace. My heart will be forever broken we didn't get to follow up the next day. To Nana, I love you forever, over and above all our sibling issues. I admired you my entire life and I will love you til my last breath. Rest in peace sister, you earned it. And I will see you soon in the arms of our Lord. You will be in my heart, mind & prayers for eternity. Sweet dreams sister & may the angels kiss you & keep you safe!

Some of my favorite photos of my Mom in recent years. Most of these were taken during her time living with me in San Antonio, loving being a Nana.
