My Auntie Laura! Such a beautiful, loving, kind, joyful, gentle person! I have many fond, wonderful memories of her throughout my life. I remember her always driving my Aunt Romualda and my Aunt Pita around. They would visit my Mom Vicenta every week after shopping and having lunch together. What a barrel of laughs they were. We referred to the 3 of them as the 3 musketeers. The last of the 3 musketeers has left us. My Auntie Laura went home to spend Christmas with the family she loved and missed so much. Rest In Peace by loving Auntie! We will miss you!

Aunt Laura played a big and very special role in my early childhood. My family lived in close proximity to my grandparents home so we saw each other often. She, at only 14 years of age, was my Confirmation Godmother. I was eleven months old. The Sacrament of Confirmation was administered to young children and babies at that time. More than once she told me, “The Story of My Confirmation.“ She would recount how I got very upset when the Archbishop lightly slapped me. I reacted to the slap with a crying, shrieking, kicking, meltdown even tearing off my bonnet. Embarrassed, Aunt Laura was forced to step outside of the church. The reason I remember the story so well is that it was told with sound effects and motions. As a young child my aunt made me feel so special, often bringing me little treats. She knew I liked paper dolls and frequently surprised me with new ones. I especially remember her hugs, her smile and her laugh. My mother had a thing with perms and more than once sent me to Grandma’s with a Toni Home Permanent in hand so Aunt Laura could give me a perm. Aunt Laura would cut or trim my hair and give me the perm. I loved spending time with my aunt, even while enduring the smell of a Toni Home Permanent. In 1959, Aunt Laura hosted a bridal shower for me in her home. I have so many precious childhood memories of this special aunt. And even though genealogy says she is my half-aunt... there was never anything half about her. She loved and was loved. She was real!
