Kevin Gerald Prendergast

Kevin Gerald Prendergast, 79, of San Carlos, Mexico died on December 14, 2025 at Guaymas General Hospital. 

 

He was born on November 2, 1946, to John (Jack) Prendergast and Marion Prendergast (née Skerry) in Montreal, Quebec.

 

Kevin grew up in the Ahuntsic neighbourhood of Montreal, attending St. Rita’s Catholic School, and then Loyola High School (class of ‘63) before graduating with a Bachelor’s of Commerce from Loyola College. He later completed his CPA, which suited his career as an entrepreneur.

 

Kevin married Renée Koreman in 1977 and together they had four children. His kids remember a childhood of happy summers on lake Memphremagog, being permitted to drive golf carts at far too young an age, and fluffy pancakes with crispy edges. He helped to instill in them a sense of independence and an appreciation for adventure. 

 

An avid golfer and enthusiastic lover of classical music and opera—always enjoyed at full recorded volume—Kevin was known for his appreciation of life’s pleasures. A dedicated sun seeker, he spent more than 25 years in Sonora, Mexico, a place he came to call home. There, he met and later married his second wife, Kim (née Fleming), with whom he shared many fond memories and international trips until her passing in 2013.

 

Kevin is remembered and survived by his four children: Tim (Ewa), Ali (Andrew), Gill (Don), and Cait (Adam); his five grandchildren: Zoe, Naomi, Xavier, Madeleine, and Chiara; his siblings: Vincent (Barbara), Terrence, Marion (John), and John (Sonia); as well as his former spouse, Renée, his stepson, Edson Pike, and the extended Prendergast and Skerry families.

 

He was predeceased by his parents, John Vincent Prendergast (November 15, 1970) and Marion Brigid Skerry McCarthy (April 28, 1988), and by his second wife, Kim Prendergast (June 22, 2013).

 

According to his wishes, Kevin’s remains will rest near his home, on the Sea of Cortez.

 

A celebration of Kevin’s life will be held at a later date.
