I was Kevin’s Softball Coach in San Francisco. I will never forget his smile…

I met Kevin 20+ years ago at Cal Poly. We had nearly identical tastes in art & music. And double-digit years of Catholic school under our belts. Kevin and I hit it off immediately. We lived in the same dormitory our first year, and then we moved into a dilapidated house with Erik, Mike, and Joe. Those were good times. A coming-of-age story. After college, we went our separate ways but always kept in touch. When he moved to SF, I trekked up there for Dodgers/Giants games. Or just to go taquería hopping in The Mission and catch up over tacos and beers (my wife tagged along for those trips). And then there were the concerts. We met up for a drink and to watch at least one band's set at almost every Coachella between 2007 and 2015. Sneaked backstage at Fun Fun Fun fest in Austin. LCD Soundsystem for that epic ten-show run at Brooklyn Steel. I was in Kevin's apartment in NYC five months ago flipping through his vinyl collection. We were supposed to be at a music festival in Atlanta called Shaky Knees the day he passed away. I've been listening to a lot of Jawbreaker since then - one of Kevin's all-time favorite bands. I can't get through "Accident Prone" (or the fantastic Julian Baker cover of the same song). The opening two lines are "What's the furthest place from here?/It hasn't been my day for a couple years." Kevin was still mourning the loss of his father. And two of our other friends from the Cal Poly dormitory that tragically passed away in the last two years. Just like them, Kevin went too soon. I met some of Kevin's friends who I didn't know at his father's memorial service. A lot of good people cared about him. And Kevin made time for all of us. Note the predominant message on his shirt in the photo - "I Just Want to Love You." Kevin's virtues outshined any vices. He gave you a piece of himself. And his laugh was infectious. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, and the prospect of being able to grieve in this already difficult time.

I did not know Kevin for too long - we worked together for a couple of months. But he made quite an impression on all of us working on some new ideas together. There was never a phone call or a meeting that I didn't leave feeling a sense of great energy and possibility. Kevin brought that kind of passion to every topic, large and small, and he will be greatly missed.

Kevin and I met in 2007, when I moved with my family from Munich, Germany, to San Francisco, to work for IDG. He was the first one who visited us, when we moved back to Germany in 2011. First we where colleagues: I always was impressed by Kevin‘s way of tackling and solving problems and staying calm and balanced when things got challenging. He was a team player, smart, funny, very creative and always had time for the guy from Germany, asking questions with his very German accent. We stayed in contact ever since, visited him in NYC. He gave us a tour at the Demand Base office, Chrysler Building. At IDG I learned a lot from him about the engine room of the internet - I called him sometimes from Berlin, when I needed his expertise and we met a few time in SF and later in NYC. My Family, Gabi, Annabelle and myself are shocked and very sad, that he has passed away, way to young. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and especially his mother. Kevin was a great person and it was very good that our path crossed. Fare well my friend. Stephan

I met Kevin 14 years ago on a rugby pitch playing for the Gotham Knights. He played with us for the 1st time in the Bingham Cup in 2006 and I immediately thought if I was going to war, I wanted to have him on my side. He was highly skilled at the game and a fierce competitor. We got into plenty of mischief off the pitch as well and enjoyed so many good times together. I know that his dad's death hit him very hard and sincerely hope his soul is at rest. My very deepest sympathies to the Barden/Cordova family on his passing.

Kevin and I were long time work friends from our time working together at PCWorld and Macworld back at IDG. We stayed in touch as we both moved on to other opportunities and companies and early this year, when I learned he left DemandBase, I introduced him to our Founder's at PureB2B and we added him to our team to lead the development of a digital display media product at our company. We were both thrilled to work together again and he was super excited for the opportunity to build something here. We had a very tight team environment at IDG and to work so closely with people and have the chance to do so again with one of the key contributor's + renew our friendship, his death hit me hard. He and I were talking and texting at length just the Friday before his death. Kevin was so open and he talked so much about his family as he always did when at IDG. He always had a dog and he sent me numerous pictures of his new pup Bentley. I remember his Basset Hound and his Bulldog too! When I spoke to his sister Tracy, I was so relieved Bentley was heading out west. Kevin was incredibly kind and always wanted to help anyway he could. He even told me about the two older woman he would drive to Doctor's appointment that lived in his building. That was so Kevin! He was very smart and hardworking and wanted to get $%#@ done. I loved that about him. Having known him for 10+ years as a work friend and person I just liked and thought highly of to come back into your life, to get to know again (by phone, text and some zoom chats but not in person due to stupid Covid) and to suddenly learn he is gone was a difficult emotion for me. No one here at this company got to know him enough yet as a person except me. So although everyone felt horrible about this tragedy, it hit me quite differently as an old work friend and someone I was getting to know well again. I just want to express to his family, particularly Mom Barden, that everyone who knew Kevin thought so highly of Kevin and that I think the most important thing in his life was his mom. He spoke of you often to me Mrs Barden. I am sorry for your loss. I will miss that guy! Sincerely, Mark
