Souvenirs

Kenton Morris Knorpp, age 79, of Tulsa Oklahoma passed away in the mountains surrounding Eagle Nest, New Mexico, one of his favorite places to visit, on August 2, 2019.  He was born on September 12, 1939 in Amarillo, Texas to Morris and Myrtle Knorpp.

Kenton was a gentle, kind and loving husband and father to his children and so many of their friends.  He graduated from West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas with a BS in Geology.  He was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order while in college and loved his time in Canyon.  Kenton joined the Army while in College and served his country proudly.  Kenton and Judy were married over Christmas in 1963 and lived in Canyon, Texas.  After having their 2 children, they moved to Tulsa where Kenton started his career in the decal business.  His love for the oil and gas industry led him to his next career as a Geologist which he carried throughout the rest of his life.  Kenton also owned a well know sign company in Tulsa and later sold it to spend his time in oil and gas.  One of his favorite hobbies was spending time in the garage building barn doors with his grandson.

Kenton was so many things to so many people.  He loved Country Western Dancing, gardening, building anything and America.  He was a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, a member of the First United Methodist Church Tulsa and  former president of the Builders Sunday School class.

Kenton was the dearest man I know . I always loved dancing with him and so did all our friends. He so loved his dear wife and she is a jewel as well . I will miss his laugh, stories and the fun we all had with Kenton . He was so brave and just always a gentleman. My heart just brakes and grateful we got to know this man . He just lived to dance .
