Ken Michael Boekenoogen

Kenneth Michael Boekenoogen passed away peacefully in his sleep at the VA Community Living Center in Spokane, Washington on September 3rd, 2023. Ken attended Madera High School in Madera, California and went to Bakersfield College on a football scholarship before his service in the Army. Ken and Joyce were married on October 29th, 1965 in Carson City, Nevada. They relocated to Marysville, Washington in 1966 where Ken worked in construction. He worked out of state on occasion for large companies as a superintendent, until his retirement in 2003. Ken and his son moved to Republic, Wa. in 2004, and Joyce joined them in 2006. Ken was a craftsman working with wood, and built a beautiful home and workshop. Ken was preceded in death by his father, Henry Boekenoogen, mother, Madelene Boekenoogen, sister Marlene James and brother William Boekenoogen. He is survived by Joyce Boekenoogen, son Michael Boekenoogen, and daughters Maria Merceri of Granite Falls, Wa. and Marni Conway (Sean) of Marysville, Wa. seven grandchildren, Michael Danner, Preston Perry, Mariah Merceri, Chance Merceri, Tristan, Trinity and Tylee Conway and two great grandchildren, Kylee Danner and Quinton Thorpe and numerous nieces and nephews. Ken was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his family and his God beyond measure. He had many friends in Republic,Wa., Western Washington, and California. The family would like to express their appreciation to the Hospice team that cared for him in the Community Living Center. They went above and beyond to make him comfortable, and were truly his "angels"on earth, as well as a blessing to his family. Ken will be inurned at the VA Cemetery in Medical Lake, Washington. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
