Karen Siew Yong Ngai

Karen Siew Yong Ngai was born on August 5, 1950, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Growing up in the bustling city, she embraced the vibrant culture and rich food of the nation. A warm, friendly and determined individual, Karen became well-respected in her community, especially with her family and church community.

In her retirement, she relocated to Melbourne, Victoria, and later to Townsville, Queensland, Australia. This transition was significant for Karen, as she further broadened her horizons and adapted to life in a new country. Despite the distance, she maintained strong ties to her Malaysian roots and Melbourne friends, celebrating her heritage and sharing her knowledge with the people around her.

As a woman of many interests, especially in church life, sports and food, Karen displayed a strong passion for learning and personal development. She was a diligent Christian in her golden years, working hard on her bible studies and volunteering to help others. She was also an excellent leader in organising family and social events. Also, she had a strong passion for Chinese and Korean drama and picked up excellent cooking skills during the long Melbourne COVID lockdowns.

Karen Siew Yong Ngai passed away on May 24, 2023, not before a brave and strong battle with cancer over the last 15 months. Her contributions to her community, along with her unwavering dedication to her family and friends, leave an enduring impact that will be remembered and appreciated for years to come.
