ANYONE WHO MISSED IT CAN WATCH THE FULL MEMORIAL EVENT HELD ON ZOOM HERE (I AM SHOUTING ON PURPOSE, HAHA): https://youtu.be/0cXtR_QY-DI The entertainment community in NY and LA are mourning the loss of beloved talent manager, Jonathan Groce. Jonathan was born July 24, 1982 to his mother, Patricia Valentine and father, Robert Groce. Jonathan is survived by his mother, Patricia Valentine, siblings; Misty Groce, Cristy Bird, Matthew Valentine, and Katherine Randalls. Jonathan had an exciting and successful career in both NYC earlier on, and LA later. He received three Daytime Emmys for his work on the hit TV show, Ca$h Cab. He went on to work on many other popular shows including Awkward, Ridiculousness, Teen Wolf, Children's Hospital, and more. He was a passionate advocate for the LGBTQ community in NYC and LA and a voice in the entertainment industry for young actors to pave their way. Jonathan enjoyed helping talented people find and hone their skills to create stories that inspire, motivate, and entertain us all in authentic ways. Jonathan was well loved in these communities among actors, writers, comedians, and other story tellers. Friends, clients, and colleagues can join family in a virtual memorial service Sunday, January 17 at 6pm EST. "Let us in, let us in...let us out, let us out", was Jonathan's favorite quote from one of his favorite movies, Clue. It perfectly captures who he was because he loved the drama, the back and forth of relationships, and give and take dynamics to life. He loved a good mystery, he loved a good puzzle. As a highly gifted and intelligent person he was always up for a political or entertainment-centered debate. Being well-read and highly up-to-date on entertainment and pop culture he found communities in the DNR show with Derek and Romaine, a radio show hosted in NYC. He was so passionate about entertainment and helping actors fulfill their goals in telling stories that it really touched every aspect of his life in some way. Jonathan was fun, fun-loving, passionate, and giving. Jonathan was closest with his boyfriend, Derek Hartley, family, friends; Jeremiah Horn, Erin Brown Thomas, Kelly Vrooman, and boss and mentor, Susan Ferris. Join us Sunday, January 17, 2021 at 6:00 PM EST for a virtual memorial with fireworks after. It will be recorded for anyone who misses it and added to this page. https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84000717559 | Meeting ID:840 0071 7559 GoFundMe: https://www.gofundme.com/f/in-loving-memory-of-jonathan-groce LA Obituary: https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/latimes/obituary.aspx?n=jonathan-bernard-valentine-groce&pid=197500336 In case you aren't able to be on the entire time, here are the links to the slideshow and the youtube link to the client, co-worker, and some friends tribute videos: Final zoom video with all the below included: https://youtu.be/0cXtR_QY-DI Tributes and recorded eulogies: https://youtu.be/ANZuy6Ma-jo (because we used Memorial Slideshow: https://youtu.be/OJ2FnNspYHo There WILL be fireworks after the service portion of the memorial. It would be difficult to put into words what decades of the closest friendship possible means to anyone, but here it goes. Jonathan and I met on AOL instant messenger before he had even left Florida. When he moved up to Baltimore, my home town, to attend The Johns Hopkins University, we finally had a chance to meet in person. After that, we were never out of communication for the next 20 years. Since we were so young, and had our entire lives ahead of us, we were able to experience together all the joys and pains of growing up, maturing, coming into our own and discovering all of what life had to offer us and where we fit into it all. That brought along all the trappings of life's adventures, good and bad. Through it all though, we had each other and that was part of the magic that got us through it. I always took for granted having Jonathan on the other side of a phone, a text, or an email. It never occurred to me that I would not have Jonathan to bounce an idea off of, ask a question, tell a joke, or just chew his ear off on some ridiculously lame subject that was causing me anxiety. Jonathan was always a busy guy, but he always made time for me. Jonathan was a constant in my life, an integral piece of me, a supporting wall and there will never be time when I don't think of how Jonathan would have made my life better just by being a phone call, a text, or an email away. Safe travels my friend. I love you.
