Moran here!

John James Moran was born to Mary and Augustus on August 13, 1934 and died March 10, 2024. John, affectionately known as “Johnny,” “Dad,”“Grandpa,”and “Great Grandpa” was the eighth and youngest child of his family. He served in the National Guard following his graduation from Bishop Loughlin High School. He loved all things Irish; all things musical (especially Singing in the Rain and West Side Story); all things Rat Pack; all things football and baseball; all things Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder and Alan King and Sid Cesar and Imogene Coca and anyone who could make him laugh. An athletic man (and avid coffee drinker) who enjoyed jogging, handball, and walking around the mall also took on the role of coaching several of his children’s baseball and softball teams. While he spent many years coaching his children and grandchildren in sports, his love of volunteerism was evident through the time he spent in the Uniondale Fire Department as a captain. As exhausting as it sounds to have accomplished all of the above, he still managed to squeeze in a full time career as an engineer for Veeco Instruments. The following people will dearly miss him: -His wife Joan (nee Murphy) of nearly 65 years -His seven children Dennis, Christine and her partner John, Steven and his wife Joan, Maureen and her husband Rob, Eileen and her husband Craig, Barbara and her husband Rafael, and Jennifer -His 17 grandchildren Lisa and her husband Greg, Kristie and her husband Dilinger, Sean, Nicholas and his wife Kara, Brittany and her husband Joe, Shannon and her husband Brian, Kevin, Chelsea, Timothy and his wife Raquel, Carissa, Jon, Antonio, Rafael (“Bobby”), Ryan, Dylan, Vanessa, and Matthew -His six great-grandchildren Aryanna, Sienna, Vienna, Penelope, Logan, and Roman And lest we forget, the scores of nieces, nephews, cousins, and all of the lives he touched over the 89 years he spent on this earth! Thanks for everything! We’ll miss you!
